When I read this the first time at the beginning of my cardiac anesthesia fellowship, I thought it was overly simplistic but enjoyable. After studying a bit more and gaining some experience, I had a whole new appreciation for this book when I read it the second time. It presents the topics in an easy to understand manner while remaining lighthearted. There’s a lot of information contained in this book but it’s not a comprehensive resource by any means. I’ve recommended this to several others and have received similar feedback. I’d definitely buy it again.

As mentioned by other reviewers this book is an easy read but a lot of text is wasted on jokes and not-so-useful comments. That aside what I find the most concerning is the number of mistakes. E.g. Vena contracta for severe TR > 6.5 cm squared. Not only wrong number but also wrong units. If you are studying for boards you will need a much better source to relay on.
