Given that pathology residents have very little material for board review it was nice to see a new book come out. Unfortunately this book suffers from several flaws. The main one is the book is primarily written as “except” questions. All of the following are true except, a mode of question which the boards are getting away from, and on CP have already dropped. Although these questions are easier to write, they will not be as useful for board prep. In addition the answer key has plenty of mistakes, wrong answers listed etc. One I just read was “Neural tube defects may be caused by a variety of abnormalities including hypothermia.” a few lines later…”Hypothermia is not known to be associated with neural tube defects”.
