It’s a great book and you definitely need to know what’s on there but it isn’t as high yield as it used to be (for obvious reasons). I like the humor in the book but I know some people could care less for it. The book is lacking an index so it can make searching up things more difficult. There are not a lot of images, mainly text. Because of that, you’ll need to go to the web to find the images. There are some things that are emphasized and may or may not show up, take it with a grain of salt. The binding is alright. With expected heavy use, the binding came come apart. The revised edition will be coming out Oct 2018.

Excellent books to prepare for the core exam! I can say this having passed the core taken in June 2016. I used Volumes 1 and 2 as well as the Case Companion. Yes, there are a grammatical errors here and there, but they are easy to overlook. It provides a great review and hits pretty much all the highlights that you need to know for the exam. Prometheus sprinkles in enough humorous comments to keep you awake and alert during long study sessions. Volume 2 includes a physics section that is invaluable- I studied this section multiple times to fully understand it (using some outside resources) and thought it thoroughly covered the necessary physics that was tested on the exam. The strategy, non-interpretive skills, and biostats sections are very useful.

I am an R3 resident studying for boards. This book covers most of the high yield topics. I would have liked more pictures but that is what statdx is for. The author is pretty funny and his mnemonics are great. I would highly recommend this book for boards (along with qbanks). The upper class-men at my program swears by this book.

Cons: The non-interpretative section can really be cleaned up. The author goes on tangents and tries to be funny but that really gets in the way of understanding and memorizing material.
