I’m not sure who is the target audience for this book. When choosing a book about lasers in dermatology, you may have the following questions.
1) Which lasers should I buy for my practice?
2) Which laser should I choose for this condition?
3) What is a typical protocol for this condition and how do I improve my protocols?
None of these questions could be answered from this book. Perhaps the best example of annoying sentences from this book is “Consult laser manual for specific fluences, spot sizes, pulse durations, and number of passes as these differ between laser systems.” This is the only meaningful sentence in the chapter on Onychomycosis. Totally useless. No comparison between treatment systems and rationale for using any specific system.
I own lasers with 4 different wavelengths and pulse durations and I bought this book to refine my knowledge about the use of these lasers and decide if I should acquire more and if so which ones. There was no helpful information in this book.
I reviewed the chapters on Onychomycosis, tattoo removal, resurfacing, fractional devices, laser pearls and photography. The photography chapter was the best and had a theoretical overview and some practical tips. The other chapters were uniformly not helpful.
