A collection of challenging and unusual cases from the author’s extensive experience as a Medical Toxicologist, these cases demonstrate medical problem solving and differential diagnosis in action from the perspective of an experienced clinician. Written in an engaging style and giving a fascinating account of some complex cases from real practice, this book will provide a good supplementary learning text for graduate students or those at an early stage in their professional career.
Steven Marcus, M.D., is the Executive Director of the New Jersey Poison Information and Education System. He is also Professor of the Department of Emergency Medicine and Associate Professor of the Department of Pediatrics at Rutgers, New Jersey Medical School. With over thirty years of medical, clinical, and forensic toxicology, Marcus recounts specific experiences from his career that were particularly unique or puzzling and pairs each mystery with its scientific explanation.
I thoroughly enjoy this book. It’s not shakespeare, but it’s short stories presented at the medical student level. As an MS2, I find the information an enjoyable review of knowledge that I ‘know.’
Educational and realistic
