The book has thirteen parts, each containing a number of chapter. Part 1 contains an introduction which provides an overview of practical procedures and basic skills and safety issues that underlie every process. Part 2 covers common preliminary components, including making sure you have the right person, and appropriate paperwork completed, along with hygiene practices. Part 3 covers non-invasive ward procedures such as measuring vital signs and writing prescriptions. Part 4 goes into common invasive ward procedures mostly related to taking blood and related procedures, along with suturing. Part 5 is all about administering medication. Part 6 covers procedures relating to the respiratory system, Part 7 – cardiology, Part 8 – gastroenterology, Part 9 – urology, Part 10 – otolaryngology, Part 11 – ophthalmology and Part 12 – end of life care. The final part, 13, covers supplementary resources relating to the various practice questions throughout the book, along with answers, and more. As well as the excellent book, there is also a link to a companion website which contains extra material including videos demonstrating techniques and interactive questions.

It is very user-friendly, clear, detailed and comprehensive – making it very easy to use as a ready reference and to guide you through vital revision.
