Description

Mechanical Ventilation is a comprehensive guide to the evaluation and management of critically ill patients requiring mechanical ventilatory support. This new text helps respiratory care students and clinicians alike bridge the gap between theory and practice as they strive to provide the very best care for patients. Aimed at developing advanced practice and critical care respiratory therapists, the text covers key concepts, techniques, and procedures for providing safe and effective mechanical ventilation. Readers will learn to apply assessment skills to evaluate patients in impending or actual respiratory failure. After studying indications for mechanical ventilation, they will learn how to initiate mechanical ventilator support, adjust ventilation to keep patients stabilized, monitor patients over time, and discontinue ventilator support.

Dr. Shelledy has served as a professor, respiratory care program director and respiratory care academic department chairman for over 25 years. He has taught patient assessment, both at the bedside and in the classroom to respiratory care students at St. Petersburg College, Georgia State University, Athens Technical College, Rush University, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, and the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He currently holds appointment as Professor and Dean, School of Health Professions at The University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio, Texas.

User’s Reviews

This text book is very easy to read and has a lot of update information. It gives you formulas and scenarios for review. The first day I had the book, I read 110 pages. Doesn’t read like text book and I am grateful because I find most text books boring. I know we need them and they are full of knowledge. The writing style of this author was fantastic and I wish all my Respiratory books were written by him.

I like the book. It has good updated information. But the package was delayed.
