Description

The importance of nutrition in the prevention and treatment of disease and the maintenance of good health is being increasingly recognised. Nutrition is an area that all health professionals need to be aware of and yet one in which few are specifically trained. However it is now becoming a valued topic in many curricula. The Oxford Handbook of Nutrition and Dietetics makes this information more accessible to dieticians, doctors, nurses, nutritionists, and other healthcare professionals by providing a practical, easily accessible, concise and up-to-date evidence-based guide in a user-friendly portable handbook. It covers the entire life cycle from preconception to old age. As the general public is increasingly aware of the food they eat and the role nutrition plays in health and disease, health professionalsmust have the kind of knowledge in this book at their fingertips.

⭐ In terms of my knowledge on the subject on nutrition and dietetics, I
currently hold a first class honours degree in nutrition (accredited by the
Association for Nutrition), and I am now studying my masters to become a
Dietitian. I wish I had this book throughout my degree as it contains so
much information in one place. I find the most useful thing to be the
inclusion of the UK DRVs located in appendix 6 towards the end of the book
(page 875), as there are a fair few of them and they can be easy to forget
(especially for some of the less discussed nutrients). The book has 2
incredibly useful built in fabric book marks which is a really nice touch.
It is however much smaller than I was expecting, this isn’t necessarily a
bad thing, however I was slightly surprised by it. The book can be slightly
difficult to navigate at first, especially if you are rushing to find the
information you require, however, after taking the time to establish the
layout this has become far less of an issue.I would definitely recommend
this book to anybody studying within the field of nutrition and dietetics,
as well as those already working in the field, as the book feels like it
was designed to be used by both.

⭐ As a second year dietetics student. I wish I had known about this last
year!!This will be very useful for the rest of my studies. It’s great for a
quick overview of what you need to know!

⭐ Great book, from a 2nd year Dietetic student!
