User’s Reviews

From the Author This book is a review of ultrasound physics and instrumentation for the ARDMS SPI examination. It contains easy-to-read narrative, summary boxes, sonographic images, review questions at the end of each chapter, and a 120 question registry review at the end of the book with rationales. Additionally, there is an online component which consists of over 300 more mock registry review questions with rationales, powerpoints (for instructors), and an image bank.

Reviews from Amazon users, collected at the time the book is getting published on UniedVRG. It can be related to shiping or paper quality instead of the book content:

⭐ I just finished my test this morning and scored 644.I did not have any guided training for this test and so needed a book that would be fairly comprehensive and yet easy to learn from. This book is about 190 pages or so and is very easy to read. I did not find myself overwhelmed or bored, nor was it too wordy. The diagrams, pictures, etc are all easy to understand and augment the points being made int eh text. The questions at the end of the chapter reinforce the concepts and key points from the chapter; they are slightly easier than the actual examination but it is not a huge difference. For me at least, this book (read it twice) in conjunction with the ARDMS provided practice tests ($25) and reviewing the semi interactive questions was enough. Things went really quite smoothly.I will definitely be using Steven Penny’s book for the abdomen preparation too.Good luck!

⭐ Very helpful and easier to understand the concepts! Studied a lot and passed the test the first time. Would have liked more test like questions though.

⭐ Used this book as my second review material after I used Edelman the first time alone I failed. But buying this book and getting another view helped a lot. Thanks to Penny! I bought his abdomen and OB book as well.

⭐ I purchased this book as a requirement for my physics review course. It has been my primary study tool for the spi exam along with Edelman. It was also reasonably priced and shipped immediately, definitely beats the book store.

⭐ I used this as my main text while studying for the SPI and I passed my first try. Everything was explained well and it was easy to follow. What I feel like helped me the most were the questions at the end of every chapter, and also the online mock exam. I highly recommend this book.

⭐ can’t say enough about this book! if you are studying US physics you need this. My teacher does not explain things so well. The textbook we use is quite good but this is even better. It is nice to have 2 sources of info. This does an excellent job of putting these concepts into easy to understand ways by using basic analogies. Got it today and have been studying for 2 hours and love it.

⭐ I recently passed the SPI on my first try. The procrastinator I am, I have been out of school for 5 years, so I had to somewhat “relearn” physics. This book prepared me well. I did purchase two hours of the X-Zone, but that did not seem to help as much. You have to really understand the principles of physics to pass this test, and this book does a good job spelling it all out for you. There are helpful practice exams after each chapter. You also get access to an online practice exam, which I thought was too simplified as compared to the actual registry.

⭐ One of the best texts to use for the SPI examination. Very easy and concise, 10/10 will recommend..

⭐ This is a fantastic review book! Physics is a complex subject but the concept in this book is broken down in an easy to read form. The pictures are very helpful in understanding the material further. There are tables throughout each chapter that highlight important key points remember. There are 50 multiple choice questions for review after each chapter and exams online to practice with. In addition, there are color plates online to help with the understanding of the direction of blood flow. I was very surprised with as small as this book is, but it’s very thorough and completely followed the course objectives for my physics class. This is my number one resource for the SPI exam and recommend it to everyone!

⭐ Hasn’t helped!
