Orthopedic surgeons’ expectancies are highlighted and several bone scan studies of clinical interest are presented.The second part is devoted to anatomy: bones, articulations and all relevant anatomical structures that are necessary to interpret a bone scan of the ankle and foot are described by means of anatomical illustrations with captions.At the end of the last decade, hybrid scanners with the ability to acquire single-photon emission computed tomoscintigraphy (SPECT) and multislice CT data simultaneously were introduced, thus opening a wide range of perspectives for nuclear physicians. Like their radiologist colleagues in the early 1990s, nuclear physicians have discovered pathologies that they were unaware of and have visualized increased tracer uptakes that they were previously unable to detect. This book, written by nuclear physicians and orthopedic surgeons specialized in the foot and ankle, will increase understanding of this whole new semiology. The internationally recognized Terminologia Anatomica has been used for the nomenclature of anatomical structures. About the Author Dr Guillaume Chuto is a Nuclear Physician. From 2005 to 2011, he has been working as a specialist practitioner at the anticancer institute Paoli-Calmettes in Marseille, France. Since 2011, he is practicing at the private hospital Résidence du parc in Marseille. This medical ward is dedicated to orthopedic bone scans since 1994 (80% of their patients), has a SPECT-CT since 2009 and performs approximately 1000 bone SPECT-CT of the ankle and the foot per year. Dr Chuto is a Member of the Société Française de Médecine Nucléaire (SFMN) and the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM). He is the author of several articles and books.Dr Emmanuel Richelme is an Orthopedic surgeon. He works as an exclusive ankle and foot orthopedic surgeon since 2008, in one of the best French private hospital for foot and ankle surgery (Clinique Juge, Marseille). He is a Member of the Société Française de Chirurgie Orthopédique et Traumatologique (SOFCOT); of the Association Française de chirurgie du pied (AFCP) and of the Groupe de Recherche et d’étude en chirurgie mini-invasive du pied (GRECMIP). He has been giving several oral contributions to AFCP and GRECMIP congress, and teacher of a class intended to chiropodist and physiotherapist.Dr Christophe Cermolacce is an Orthopedic surgeon. He works as an exclusive ankle and foot orthopedic surgeon since 1995, in one of the best French private hospital for foot and ankle surgery (Clinique Juge, Marseille, and ICP, Paris).
