Description

Written to help haematology and general medical trainees evaluate their own knowledge, and particularly useful for those preparing for the Part 1 examination of the Royal College of Pathologists. This exam-centered book will also be of use to core medical trainees preparing for the examinations of the Royal College of Physicians and the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and to haematology and general medicine trainees in other countries where methods of examination are similar.

The 150 questions are presented in two formats, Single Best Answer and Extended Matching Question, and comes complete with detailed feedback and, when appropriate, relevant references are given for each question so that those who select the wrong answer will understand why another answer is better.

⭐ Excellent book by excellent teacher

⭐ My daughter is currently at uni and this is one of the required texts. Although she’s a medical student she’s not intending to go into pathology. She’s remarked that it’s a raelly good book but it’d also be even better for pathology students. What’s in the book:50 SBA questions70 SBA multiple choice questions appropriate for haematology specialist trainees30 EMQs suitable for those taking Part 1 of the FRCPath examinationAnswers. So it’s useful in that you can check your answers.Overall, as with most of the Wiley range of textbooks, it’s a really good resource.

⭐ I’m not a medic. I had iron based anaemia, and had to find ways to cure myself because the GP was useless. This is a very fiendish subject and if this is the only source of test questions, then I think you would be obliged to buy it. It is incredibly slim..just 198 pages, half questions, half answers. Questions pose scenarios with patients classed by age, sex, race and sometimes nationality. Some of these are red herrings (not sure if red herring is a rich source of iron). In other disciplines I’ve found that repeatedly drilling yourself in multichoice does get you good results and make sure you are more likely to spot the ringers.

⭐ Obtained for a young family member who is in medical school. The Wileys Multiple Choice Questions for Haematology and Core Medical Trainees’, is, as it suggests, aimed at students who wish to self mark their academic progress through questions and analysis. Based on the rigourous exam based structure of the Royal College of Pathologists, the Royal College of Physicians and the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.Well structured format and straighforward in delivery. An essential tool, I would have thought, in the students field kit.

⭐ Very useful for medical students as half the book is multiple choice questions with the remaining half being the answers. Most of it is very technical so really aimed at medical students and more specifically those wanting to pursue a career in haemotology. It’s very professionally presented and comprehensive though of little use to non-medical students.

⭐ Got this for my daughter who is a medical student. She says it’s a bit advanced for her as yet, probably more suitable for foundation level doctors, but she found it interesting and well laid-out, and appreciated having the answers at the back for reference. A useful book for those studying haematology!

⭐ A concise test book of 120 questions with 30 extended matching questions. Each question is a short paragraph with multiple choice answers. At the back in the answer section is the best answer and a brief explanation and in some cases a reference to the further explain the information.A helpful publication for students learning about haematology

⭐ No nonsense guide to the taking of particular exams within the field. Well laid out and perfectly organised to work through effectively, it is an excellent, advanced reference book for getting to grips with the necessary examination requirements set out in a flexible study framework. Can’t go wrong.

⭐ Right up to date and not only does this book give you everything needed to pass the exam, but it also provides a very useful resource to refer back to long after you have passed the exam!

⭐ Nicely and simply laid out with no gimmicks. Challenging. Good for students and for those who wish to brush up and refresh aspects of their diagnostic skills.
