Description

The only review book to cover both anatomic and clinical pathology, Pathology Exam Review offers excellent preparation for the American Board of Pathology Anatomic and Clinical Pathology examinations. The book contains 1,500 board-formatted multiple-choice questions with short explanatory answers, equally divided between anatomic and clinical pathology. Anatomic pathology coverage includes general pathology, cytopathology, autopsy pathology, surgical pathology, immunohistochemistry, and electron microscopy. Clinical pathology coverage includes immunology, medical microbiology (bacteriology, mycology, virology and parasitology), transfusion medicine, hematology, coagulation, clinical chemistry, and molecular pathology and genetics. Many of the questions are accompanied by full-color images.

A companion Websitewill include the fully searchable text, a question bank, and an image bank.

Reviews from Amazon users, collected at the time the book is getting published on UniedVRG. It can be related to shiping or paper quality instead of the book content:

⭐ Poorly written and atrociously edited. Filled with wrong answers and confusing discussions that are often off topic and irrelevent. This is NOT the book to buy when reviewing for the path boards. Save your money and valuable study time.

⭐ I highly recommend this for all pathology residents. This is helping to fill the much needed deficit in pathology exam review. Some of the questions are very similar to those on the 2009 RISE exam. Yes, there are some easily identifiable typographical errors. Some sections have detailed and lengthy explanations whereas in other sections, the explanations are very brief. Im looking through this book as I type and it has very many excellent photographs and graphs. Yes, lefkowitch has good explanations, but the number of questions it asks is somewhere between 1/5 & 1/10 of that provided in this book. In addition, many of the questions in this book are very similar to the RISE exam. For these reasons, it would be an asset to anyone looking to score high on the RISE exam or Boards.

⭐ As other reviewers have commented, this book has extensive errors, both typographical and content related. I contacted the publisher, and they not only refused to let me return the book, but they didn’t even seem to CARE that I had found so many mistakes. A truly disappointing purchase.

⭐ Nice book at competitive price from the online book store. Customer service is good and responded promptly to my email

⭐ There are very few q-bank type resources for studying for the path boards. Out of the ones that I have seen, Lefkovich seems the most helpful. This book has a lot of good questions, but I give it 3 stars for 2 very big flaws.1. It has sooo many mistakes! Sorry, but when you’re studying for boards, you don’t have the time to look up every single question in reference books and make sure it is correct.2. The answers are so superficial. Sometimes, they don’t even explain why the answer is what it is!I have not used the online question bank that comes with the book, but that is an added resource. I don’t know why people put books out there without proofreading them thoroughly. Just in the cytology chapter alone, I must have caught about 10-15 mistakes!I wish someone would make an amazing resource for board study! We just don’t seem to have one in Path.

⭐ Either the author is illiterate or he let a medical student do all the work. They should be ashamed of themselves for this book and should refund everyone. If you gave 5 stars then you probably reviewed before you opened the book. There are wrong answers , wrong explanations and most commonly correct explanations that do not match the letter of the answer.

⭐ many questions are with mistakes, few answers letters are wrong, and some feedback with no sonse, the authors must have paid little more attention before publishing. many tested materials are not exam related. Pictures quality are not the best. The book can be used long time before the exam for rapid review only, otherwise if you prepared with rush, do not waste your time with it.

⭐ The questions in the molecular section were great! Helped me pass APCP and molecular boards.

⭐ I got this book to help me prepare for the boards–there are so many typographical errors, that I question the validity of the whole book. For example, in the answer areas, the authors FREQUENTLY talk about the “other 3” answers–when there are FOUR. When the question is an EXCEPT question the answer is the TRUE answer instead of the false answer. Small cell carcinoma is mixed up with small lymphocytic lymphoma.I wish I could send mine back, but I didn’t know how crappy this was going to be until I’d already started answering the questions…

⭐ I am studying for the path boards and am really getting annoyed with this book. The amount of errors are appalling and the online version is even worse with more errors than the hard copy! Not sure how this is possible. I find myself looking up every answer just to make sure that the explanations are correct in case there are errors that I don’t catch. It is really sad as there aren’t alot of review books for the path boards. I think that’s why many people buy it. But if I had more of a choice, this book would be very far down on the list.
