Description

This comprehensive, authoritative text presents the scientific foundations and clinical practice of neural blockade in both regional anesthesia and the management of pain. The descriptions and illustrations of pain mechanisms are considered classic examples. The Fourth Edition has been refined for clarity and flows logically from principles and pharmacology, to techniques for each anatomic region, to applications. This edition has two new co-editors and several new chapters on topics including neurologic complications, neural blockade for surgery, treatment of pain in older people, and complications in pain medicine.

⭐ This book has lots of pictures to explain the complicated pain pathways, which is going to help me a lot in nurse anesthesia school for our regional class this summer. Great book! My only recommendation is that the publishers use the “Inkling” web system in the future for e-book content. Almost all of my other textbooks are on Inkling and I love it. The Inkling e-book library is FAR superior to the Wolters Kluwer Lippincott Williams & Wilkins online access site, because Inkling is easier to navigate/search/view and easy to access across multiple devices. ⭐ I bought this book for a Regional Anesthesia class, and only used it minimally. I wanted it more for technique and picture purposes. ⭐ As an anesthetist i am constantly looking for reference material. This is the “bible” for neural blockade. The book arrived promptly and for the price of shipping and handling. Cost of the book was <$1. Could not believe that the book was like new.Although it was an older edition it has answered all my needs. Great book and purchase! ⭐ I'm not crazy about this book. I don't find it to be an easy read and there are other textbooks that are far more concise and still cover all the info in Cousins. Also, I'm a visual learner and their illustrations leave much to be desired. ⭐ Good deal ⭐ This edition has been almost rewritten and larger portion is dedicated to pain management and basic pain mechanisms. Indispensable reference! ⭐ Extremely well written with lots of fantastic illustrations and pictures that make it so easy to read.Figures and illustrations are really helpful in understanding of techniques and anatomical structures. All technical approaches and interventions are presented in detail and information on the molecular mechanism of action is also provided based on the most recent scientific advances. An excellent choice both for trainees and experts. A source of knowledge that practitioners can turn to for guidance and update.Fully half the book's content is devoted to pain medicine, making it useful as an authoritative reference for physicians treating pain whether or not they practice regional anesthesia.I definitely believe that it is a textbook that everyone interested in pain management and neural blockade should have. ⭐ This exceptionally well-written text is essential for practitioners of regional anesthesiology and pain medicine. Fully comprehensive, the text is supplemented by an impressive array of images and illustrations, which it uses to walk the reader through complex procedures with ease. It is up-to-date and advanced enough for even the most experienced practitioners, but fundamental enough to be used as an introductory text for trainees and students. It blends nicely the practical, technical aspects of clincial intervention, with its basic science and molecular underpinnings. I recommend this text with great enthusiasm! ⭐ Excellent compilation of relevant and current topics in regional anesthesia and pain management. Not only does this book explain the various neural blockade techniques with illustrations, it also has in depth explanation of molecular basis as well. Great reference for anesthesia trainees and pain management specialists. The format of the book makes it easy to read. ⭐ Griggsby Wright, MD says:This book has fantastic illustrations relating to anatomical structures, creating a 3-dementional appreciation for technical approaches and interventions. However, the genre of this book is limitless by actually getting down to the molecular aspects of theory and practice. This book boasts an extensive compilation frameworked within a superior format.
