Description

The field encompassed by rheumatology has evolved rapidly over the last decade to include multiple immune-modulating and biologic medications, new classification criteria, significant updates on bone metabolism, and completely new paradigms of treatment based on groundbreaking studies published within the last 5 years. Although much has been adopted as standard of care based on new data, most textbooks do not reflect these practice changes.

Rheumatology Board Review highlights the latest advances in the field and new standards of care, including references to current citations in the medical literature. It provides international standards and guidelines and is designed to convey a maximum amount of information quickly and efficiently, with many helpful schematics, radiographs, and tables.
Rheumatology Board Review offers chapter coverage of:
• Non-inflammatory joint and soft tissue disorders
• Selected topics in rheumatoid arthritis
• Selected topics in systemic lupus erythematosus
• Antiphospholipid antibody syndrome
• IgG4-related disease
• Myopathies
• Selected topics in pediatric rheumatology

Reviews from Amazon users, collected at the time the book is getting published. It can be related to shiping or paper quality instead of the book content:
⭐ It is a nicely-edited concise review of key updates and core knowledge in a few important rheumatology topics. You can finish reading in a few days. It is much cheaper than going to a board review course or buying those DVDs from review course (no lectures are worth 1000 dollars plus plane tickets and hotel charges). It is not comprehensive. It does not even have a chapter on scleroderma, to my surprise, for example. There are no questions or cases in there. It has very limited number of pictures. The price of 70 dollars is a little high, as this book is only about 200 pages. It does NOT replace routine reading while in fellowship. It supplements what you already know and remind you of things that you have forgotten. ⭐ Missing some important board review data (No scleroderma). Good for a quick weekend read. ⭐ Very helpful and nice bookI recommend it for all rheumatological fellows and also for the medical resident as well ⭐ Excellent read, would recommend this book to those dealing with arthritis, connective tissue disorder. This book is worth it’s price. ⭐ This is a sophomoric unoriginal compilation that summarizes information from textbooks. No specific angle to meet the needs of those preparing their boards is evident. This is an essentially useless book sold at an unjustifiable price. ⭐ This is an up to date and concise book for rheumatology subspeciality board review, perhaps the best among a few available books for rheumatology subspeciality board review so far. I used it for my in-training exam and worked well for me. I recommend it for the rheumatologists and rheumatology fellows. ⭐ There are very few rheumatology board review books out there. This one highlights a lot of key points and is way cheaper than attending a formal board review course. This is a great book to supplement general reading and is best used to review right before the boards. While geared towards rheum fellows, I wish I had it while I was a medical student/resident on my rheum rotations.I think the price is fair since its an academic book with a small niche market. The checklists with each chapter are excellent.
