Description

Emphasizing current, relevant, “”need-to-know”” terms that will help you succeed in the health care field, MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY FOR HEALTH PROFESSIONS, 8E simplifies the process of memorizing complex medical terminology by focusing on the important word parts—common prefixes, suffixes and root words—to provide a foundation for learning hundreds of medical terms. Organized by body systems, chapters begin with an overview of the terminology related to the body’s structures and functions, proceed through diseases and disorders, and end with diagnostic procedures and treatments. A proven combination of learning principles and exercises helps you master the language necessary to describe how the human body works, what goes wrong with it, and how it is treated. An updated art program features the latest terms and procedures as well as multi-cultural/multi-generational photos that accurately portray the opportunities available in today’s medical field.Important Notice: Media content referenced within the product description or the product text may not be available in the ebook version.

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐The “new” book is NOT new! Also, paying for a NEW book one would expect an unopened textbook WITH ACCESS CODE… not the case. You will have to spend an ADDITIONAL $150 for the code.Save your money and only buy the code that gives access to the entire book.

⭐If your looking to actually learn medical terminology, this is the way. Doing the questions at the end of each chapter really helps to retain the information, not just learn, but actually understand and remember without tedious memorization and flashcards. This would be great for a student who is not a native english speaker and also for me, a grad student! This is not a boring textbook and I have it on my kindle so its super convenient!

⭐This book comes with a few notecards in the back section (which the description didn’t state as far as I could tell). I think if I had written it I would have organized it a bit differently, such as starting with common suffixes and prefixes as opposed to how it sort of throws a bunch of randomness at you in the first chapter. After that there is a much better pattern and structure. Great for anyone in or getting into the healthcare fields.

⭐Loved the value. Use the book for college course and when you are done with it no need to store it, sell it, or throw it away at some later date. Always hated buying used books, they always felt dirty. New books are riduculously expensive then you wind up storing them and throwing them out years later.

⭐I ended up purchasing this rental book because it was very helpful, but it came to me in not very good condition and could have been priced lower. Every activity was already filled in and pages were very worn, but, like I said, it is helping me, so I purchased it.

⭐I read the note before buying that some of the pages were filled out and written on. However, after opening the book, it seems like almost EVERY page has writing/highlighting on it and almost every worksheet/practice test has been filled out in pen. This is a little annoying because I would’ve liked to do them myself without looking at the answers and I can’t erase them since most of the writing in here is done in pen. There’s also pages ripped out and missing. I purchased the new version. Since this textbook is a requirement for a few of my classes, I think it will be worth it.

⭐My teacher allowed us to read and do all the homeworks at the end of class I was going chapter by chapter. I just went to sit and do all my homeworks today and I realized that every homework page is ripped out of the book I can’t believe it I have no idea what I’m going to do or what my teacher is going to say.. we are wrapping up the semester so this like the end of the world for me my teacher isn’t going to want to hear a few weeks until the end of the course I’m finding out my book isn’t a full book it’s half empty this is ridiculous.

⭐Very detailed book with helpful exercises and then pictures. I just hope I pass the course!!

⭐Ever wonder what all those latin and technical medical terms mean? Take a class on it, buy this textbook for it (as it was assigned), and get a B something… That’s what I did 😀 Won’t cover everything, such as the PRK surgery (photorefractive keratectomy, which I had while taking this class) but it will cover the more popular LASIK etc…Awesome pictures + assistive aid; I think I will be using this in the future as reference!

⭐Awesome book, I have just finished the third chapter and I find this book very informative and well spoken. There are plenty of learning exercises at the end of each chapter which is great, I just wish there was an answer key in the back of the book for quick reference. Also I feel the quality of the book could be better considering how much it costs. The spiral bind makes the book look sort of cheap, however it is a lot easier to open and move around. A thicker laminated front and back cover would have been perfect. In shipment the corners of the book including the front cover bent up slightly, the front and back covers definitely need to be of better quality. Another thing I wish this book had was the cd-rom study ware that the seventh edition came with. Other than that, great book!

⭐Has everything I need but in terrible condition. Pages are ripped and hard to turn pages. Wouldn’t have purchased if realCondition was in description

⭐Using this for a medical terminology course I’m taking online. The book has lots of information and terms are explained clearly. Unfortunately the answers to the questions are not in the book so you can check your work.

⭐My book arrived a day early, so I was happy with that. When I looked at the book, I found it was bound incorrectly. Backwards and upside down. Since it is a medical book for learning, it does not make it easy to use.
