Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐I’ll admit I’m not super chemistry minded, which is why I bought this book and why I couldn’t even begin to understand the contents of this book. This book is not written for us intelligent dummies. What is it with the sciences that everyone has to go into the minutia of things that don’t matter? If you want this book you better be an above the above average intelligence with a real hardon for science cause this book ain’t gonna be an easy read. Got this for a biochem class for my nursing degree. I flipped though it and said f—- it. Btw, I got an A+ on my final exam abs class total, so I did better without this book, and I guess I’m not a real dummy either.Tl;dr: Go to YouTube for better, clearer, more concise info.

⭐This book was not targeted towards anything healthcare related & did not touch on much of what we were focusing on. It was not worth my purchase & was returned.

⭐I had attempted at one point to read a biochemistry text and it was slow going. I could not see the forrest for the trees, i.e., I tended to get lost in the detail and not get the big picture. I have almost read this book, annotated it heavily, and it is giving me the big picture. Now that I see the forrest, perhaps I can have a look at the trees. As an RN, I had a basic understanding of biology. I had also read a basic college level chemistry text. One might want to read Chemistry for Dummies first if you don’t have that, but I don’t think it’s absolutely necessary. One of the things that I like about this book is that it takes away the mystique that only scientists, doctors, etc. can understand biochemistry. You have to work at it hard, but you can get it.

⭐Good for starters. Does not go in depth for most of the content.

⭐I did not find this book helpful at all, it was like purchasing anther BioChem textbook. I’ve used books like these before for other subjects (Statistics for example) and found them to be much more useful. I expect these books to have helpful insight on how to learn these concepts, or tricks or hints to help with the learning. I found none of the above and returned the book. Youtube Kahn Academy videos (and other similar) for free were much more helpful.

⭐This is a good review of biochemistry. The only drawback is that many of the figures are clipped because of the formatting.

⭐This book is a excellent review of concepts before taking a biochem class, touching broadly on all biochem subjects, not going into great detail. This will probably help the learner to absorb more when taking the actual biochem class. I enjoyed the chemical structures included and real life examples which made the material relatable. I would suggest reading this book before taking a biochem class, but do NOT use as supplement when taking the class.

⭐I am interested in organic chemistry with a biochemistry emphasis. I gave this book five stars. It was detailed enough to give me clues about where I wanted to study next, but not so detailed that I couldn’t comprehend what was there. But we warned, biochemistry is not for dummies.

⭐I’m currently studying Biomedical Science at university and one of my modules next semester was Biochemistry, while doing my A levels this was definitely one of the areas I needed to read up on and improve before starting the module. I purchased this book and have been pleasantly surprised by it. It has all the basics of biochemistry and covers a wide variety of topics. However, when I say basics, I mean literally just the basics or the ‘fluff’. It lacks university and possible even A level depth. Since reading this book I have purchased another Biochemistry textbook which has much more detail but I couldn’t possibly understand half the concepts without reading this book first. So if you’re like me and need a bit of a jumpstart to biochem before reading the text books, I would highly recommend this product (especially as it’s under £10 – a lot cheaper than other introductory biochem books)! But, if you’re background on biochem is pretty good, I’d steer clear!

⭐Very good, clear and straight forward book. Doing first year of a Zoology degree and struggling with the biochemistry module. This book has helped me understand some of the aspects of the module that I was struggling to follow through clear explanations and decent diagrams. The book is written with good humour too 🙂 I feel a bit harsh giving it 4 stars instead of 5, but I guess I cannot quite call it perfect. Some sections maybe could do with a few more examples, but for the price and size of the book there really isn’t enough room to cover everything in detail. As the authors say, this should be used to grasp a general understanding on the topic to supplement your big, thick expensive textbook. Overall, very satisfied with the purchase 🙂

⭐I’m a biology student, who didn’t do chemistry at A level, and was finding this to be a problem during my degree. Reading this book actually helped a lot, as it gave me the basic concepts of biochemistry, which allowed me to understand more complex concepts. However even though i’m doing a degree in biology, without chemistry A level it was quite a tough read. For a book labeled ‘for dummies’ it is definitely not dumbed down.

⭐An awesome book written in simple language with a tiny bit of humour. Great help with my biochem course.

⭐Bought as a present, Aunt delighted with it..
