⭐This book was my first introduction the cupping therapy. I found it to be immensely interesting. The objective of cupping therapy is to use suction to increase blood circulation to specific areas of the body. The suction is created using cups with holes and stoppers or lighting a match to remove air from inside the cup (due to the combustion reaction with oxygen) and then placing them on the body. There are many variations on cupping – involving placement, quantity, movement of cups while attached, puncturing the skin, etc. Cupping therapy is cited as a treatment for all sort of conditions, ranging from muscular/sports-related pain to abdominal discomforts. This book is a great primer in the therapy and would serve one well if one were looking to book a cupping therapy appointment for the first time and wanted to better understand what’s available.

⭐If you’ve been on the internet at all in the past year, you’ve probably seen Cupping Therapy videos. It’s oddly satisfying but also super weird to watch. What I love about this book is the explanation of just why cupping therapy works and it’s benefits. I loved learning about its history, and how modern thought influences historical practices. If you’re looking to learn about how cupping works and how to practice it yourself, then I would recommend this book. It gives the pros and cons of different types of cups, how to use them, and how to be safe while using them. It’s easy to understand, informational, and interesting to boot!

⭐After visiting China and various other asian and indonesian cultures this past year, my partner and I have had a significant interest in alternativ healings and mediines. In fact, I first got intrigued after I noticed my friend had some very bizarre looking things on her back. It turned out, it was merely cupping! I didn’t even know it was something that people practiced locally. We pickd up this book hoping that it would give us more insight into what cupping actually is and how it can help us in our own journeys. As someone with natural anxiety and stress, i am always looking for new ways to handle it, without pumping drugs into my system. I absolutely LOve this book! It does a great job of explaining the what, who, how and why of cupping. I had no idea there were so many variants on how to do cupping, but just like anything there sure is. I love learning about the different ways to do it and why each way is most impactful for you or what you’re trying to achieve. I was pleasently surprised to find visuals that accompanied many different parts of the book. Though, to be honest, I don’t know if the visuals where helpful to keep going or a deterrent lol. I probably would have left ou t the bleeding cupping visual, but that’s just me. This book does a great job of giving play by play on different types of cupping and what each type i good for. I don’t think I will necessarily try it by myself, but you certainly cacn with all the information. I do feel like i have a major idea on what will work and what wouldn’t work for me. I love knowing the why and how when it comes to alternative medicines and this book certainly does a great job of getting that information out there. Definitely recommend it.

⭐Remember when Michael Phelps showed up at an Olympic race covered with circular bruises and the world went crazy over “cupping?” Well, Choi’s “Cupping Therapy for Muscles and Joints” gives a thorough overview of this traditional Chinese medicine therapy. This book gives a thorough overview of the basics- the different types of cups, the different techniques for application, a safety overview, and advice on placement for different types of injuries, cosmetic concerns, and health irregularities. The book is filled with helpful images and diagrams and through explanations and descriptions. While additional resources (and people…) would be needed to actually enact cupping therapy, this book gives a strong foundation of understanding and practical uses of this ancient technique that has recently gained significant popularity.

⭐I had NO idea what this was until I started experiencing chronic pain. I heard that athletes during the Rio games used it and decided to start researching it…with some skepticism. As it turns out, it comes from a similar Chinese tradition as acupuncture. The basic idea is that it increases blood flow to a given area to improve recovery. I should warn you that cupping does create bruises– but it’s far preferable to dealing with prolonged pain an injuries! This book is great because it’s not written for someone with a medical degree. It starts from the ground up with explanation of the science, to materials you’ll need, to different methods of cupping. I personally decided to have a friend or my boyfriend over the first time I tried it, but you could probably do most of the techniques yourself. I’m really glad such a detailed book on the topic exists.

⭐It is a decent little introduction to cupping. It is thin and has way to much about the history of cupping. Not what I thought it would be but not bad.

⭐A very good addition to anyone’s library on alternative healing. Very clear and interesting reading. Photos to show where to cup and the best cupping technique for that area. Very glad I purchased the Kindle version.

⭐Has good descriptions and visuals of proper use of cups for specific injuries/pain

⭐I bought this book after I have seen some pictures posted from a client as I always want to see a book inside before purchasing and the book was with color pictures. Mine not. It looks a photocopy. If you are like me passionate about books and who cares about the quality of the book’s appearance and not just its content I would think before purchase

⭐Very helpful book. Recommendation of treatment/therapy for certain health conditions with pictures and text. Explores different type of cupping. Definitely recommended. I used some of the therapies for myself and definitely benefited from them.

⭐Very graphic, visual and easy to follow. I am an acupuncturist so I recommend my clients to do self cupping at home with this book.

⭐Such a great book! Instructions are easy to understand and has very good pictures to help guide you. I’ve treated myself and others a few times using this book, recommended it to everyone!

⭐This Boook is great..has a Lot of Information and its an easy read. The pictures are clear and understandable even for armatures.I would recomend the book
