This book contains a compilation of high-yield, at-a-glance summaries in quick reference format for various topics that are frequently encountered by pathologists in the daily practice or on the boards. The focus is not organ-based histologic criteria, but rather everything else that goes into pathologic diagnoses but is difficult to keep committed to memory. The emphasis is on immunohistochemistry, special stains, grading systems, molecular markers, tumor syndromes, and helpful clinical references. Also included are morphologic summaries that encompass high-yield material cutting across all organ systems, such as an illustrated guide for microorganisms, tumor differentials, and an illustrated glossary of pathologic descriptors.The book has a unique format in that the information is presented primarily in tables and diagrams accompanied by brief and to-the-point explanatory text. The guiding principle was to boil the information down to the essentials but with just enough commentary to be accessible to a newcomer to pathology and to serve as a quick reference to a practicing pathologist. In the 7 years since its initial publication, there have been considerable advances in surgical pathology, particularly immunohistochemical stains, molecular diagnostics, and histologic grading schemes. In the second edition, the content has been thoroughly updated to incorporate these developments, while retaining the overall scope and concise format of the first edition. In addition, the reader will find summaries for many new topics as well as multiple new cartoon illustrations and diagrams.

⭐The preview for this book is horrendous and useless. Why they include blank pages and complete INDEX as a preview is mind bogglingly stupid. Including the Table of contents is OK–gives you an overview of topics covered. What would be more useful is having 1st page of each chapter so you get a sense of the style and format of the topics covered.5 chapters are on immunostains alone–for solid and hematopoietic tumors1 chapter on special (non-IHC) stains1 chapter on predictive markers (Her2neu, BRAF, etc) for determining treatment2 chapters on grading and classification criteria for solid vs hematopoietic tumors2 chapters on tumor cytogenetics–solid vs hematopoeitic1 chapter on tumor syndromes & associations1 chapter on serology1 chapter Potpourri of quick tips/reminders on:-1 page on size criteria for microinvasion, micro-tumors, normal organ weight/size- Pattern of metastases- electron microscopy findings for certain tumors- fungal & viral histologic morphology- histologic descriptors of tumors (with cartoons & H&E pictures)Overall, a worthwhile book to have for people who have ADHD and don’t want to read volumes of print to catch one nugget of important info.The format is good, but be warned–to compress all pertinent info into one page, the writing font is 8What’s missing? A good chapter on skin, melanomas, and tumors. There are 2 pages on this topic, and it’s very superficial and doesn’t even capture the tip of the iceberg.

⭐An invaluable book for common questions in surgical pathology. Great for residents and practicing pathologists.

⭐I ordered 2 copiessome pages were folded in one of these books

⭐The fonts are small and information is very dense. Organized in a sort of outline format. Finally had some information presented in a condensed fashion that helps me to understand things I didn’t understand before. Overall, this type of handbook may not appeal to everyone, but I find it very useful.

⭐The content of this book is fine. Unfortunately, the book cannot be opened in the Kindle cloud reader. As this is a reference book that I need to be able to access even when I’m on the move, on computers where I do not have installation rights, this is a serious drawback.

⭐Un libro muy completo dónde viene muy sencillo para las bases de inmunohistoquimica y de principios básicos de anatomía Patologica. Lo recomiendo bastante como dice el título como guía rápida. Vino antes de tiempo y bien empaquetado

⭐Compre este libro para regalarselo a mi hermana, ella habitualmente usa uno en su trabajo de una version anterior. Ella esta encantada con el libro, puede mirar las dudas en casa. Según ella, es muy completo y viene bien explicado (aunque en ingles).
