I personally find this book to be a big help for clarifying all the little details that no one bothers to tell you before you start working in the wards. For example, my first day on the wards, I was expected to pre-round and present to the attending in 30-45 minutes. NO ONE told me what was relevant information to present for my particular rotation (GYN ONC) besides SOAP format, so I presented irrelevant information which made my presentation 3 mins long when they preferred 1 minute max. It’s great to know what each rotation expects, what gear to bring for that rotation, what questions to ask on your first day, what tasks you will expected to know how to perform, what types of patients you will see aka what health problems you should study in advance, etc. I am so grateful for this book because it has clarified so much, and it makes me feel more confident because I know what to expect. I don’t understand how anyone could give it less than 5 stars. : )

4/5 stars due to the fact that the psychiatry section was still DSMIV and not updated to DSMV. Other wise this book was great for a quick read through just prior to starting my next rotation. By no means is this a comprehensive review but it is satisfactory enough to get a general idea of the knowledge for each core rotation. Definitely needs to be supplemented with other sources to prepare for shelf exams and needed clinical knowledge.
