Has some good chapters and helpful explanations. Overall I think that Clinical Physiology by Burton Rose is a superior text for getting a strong foundation in renal pathophysiology. If you are a med student, I would recommend Renal Pathophysiology by Renkke. If you are a resident or nephrology fellow, I would recommend the Burton Rose textbook. I bought this book mainly because it was less than ten dollars, and it was definitely well worth it since it does cover important topics quite well, including having some explanations that are better than most other books. However, if you are only going to use one textbook, use the Burton Rose one.

this is a very thoughtful book, provided to me when I was in medical school… but an earlier edition. I like the targeted sections, the specific evaluation of edema and its renal consequences.. I might have preferred a better rendering of the various measures for protein loss, and or methods to carefully consider renal function in heart failure…However, some data on these topics is provided, and I am happy to get the clear messages….
