Description

Pediatric Primary Care: Practice Guidelines for Nurses, Fourth Edition is a comprehensive resource for well-child management and acute care management of childhood illnesses in a primary care setting. Written by practicing experts, this text is intended for advanced practice nursing students as a quick reference guide once they enter clinical practice. To manage initial and follow-up visits, the Fourth Edition features templates for gathering first visit history, as well as a template to record new information since the last visit. Instructions for gathering medical history information are also included. The Fourth Edition is divided into two sections. The first section covers well-child care and includes new patient intake with a family, well-child visits, and normal growth and development. The second section covers common childhood disorders in each system of the body. It is organized by body system and presents common medical conditions, diagnosis, treatment, complications, and patient/family education. New to the Fourth Edition: • Updated pediatric practice guidelines • Coverage of concussions and guidelines for safe return to activities • Additional content related to screening for child abuse • Images reflecting common childhood dermatological conditions • Links to the current immunization schedule from the CDC and STI diagnosis and treatment • Updated case studies

Reviews from Amazon users, collected at the time the book is getting published on UniedVRG. It can be related to shiping or paper quality instead of the book content:

⭐ Very repetitive, especially in the developmental chapters. Most the same
info is repeated several times through each stage. It’s a great outline but
definitely doesn’t go into enough Pathophysiology or detail. You’ll need a
supplemental text to learn the full scope.

⭐ I bought my textbook early and just started classes. I opened my book and
it for some reason starts at page 67? I have a good chunk of my textbook
missing! Unfortunately, because I just found this out, the time for returns
is over. Disappointed that I have 66 pages plus the table of contents,
title page, etc. missing.

⭐ Easy to navigate, comprehensive, concise to-the-point information focusing
on thorough assessment and plan of care for pediatric population
development and disorders

⭐ I purchased this book because it was listed as “hardcover”. However, it
comes very small and spiral bound. Very flimsy. I would have ordered this
from my school had I known. Very annoyed.

⭐ Great resource for an FNP student or PNP student. This is a great book.

⭐ It was nice that it was compact. Information in this book was scattered,
poorly organized and hard to follow at times. It did include some primitive
reflexes however it didn’t explain start/stop of these reflexes, the
developmental milestones were barely touched upon, which is a huge aspect
of learning peds. Very disappointed.

⭐ Good resource, however my text is missing many pages. As you can see in
the photo my text goes from page 10 to 31… I didn’t notice initially
because I was only using pages/chapters I needed to reference in clinic,
but as I started to read it from cover to cover I caught many missing
pages…

⭐ Building my resources for practice.

⭐ Love the outline format and the ICD 10 CODES very helpful in diagnosing my
pediatric patients!!!!

⭐ Love this resource. The age appropriate well child checks are awesome and
the common sick complaints are also helpful.
