⭐ I’m using this textbook for a Clinical Terminology course and, four weeks
in, I’m struggling. The Progress Checks at the end of each chapter are HARD
because the answers to at least 1/3 of the questions aren’t clearly
expressed in the book. I’m relying heavily on a medical dictionary and
Google to complete each week’s assignments. It’s unacceptable that I (and
my classmates) should be relying on the Internet to complete assignments.
The material should be clearly and thoroughly expressed in each chapter;
students should not have to rely on outside sources of information to
complete assignments.

⭐ I needed this book for one of the college courses I am enrolled in. It
even came with an access code to access the online book!! Being able to
access the online textbook is very helpful and I was very surprised!!

⭐ It is a medical terminology book. There is nothing that sets it apart from
any other, really. But it does its job, and it was not excessively
expensive, so it’s ok.

⭐ I just taught a Medical Terminology course for the first time. I adopted
this book because the length was just right (most Med Term books are far
too long), and it had decent instructor resources, including case studies,
and an online verbal glossary so students could hear correct pronunciations
any time they wanted (surprisingly, this was correct even when the written
pronunciation in the book was wrong). But after starting the semester, I
realized this book is riddled with errors – misspelling of terms, incorrect
pronunciation guides, inconsistent application of their own pronunciation
rules, learning objectives listed at the start of a chapter without any
content relating to those objectives, and poorly written questions in
assignments (e.g., a multiple-choice question about the number of vertebrae
didn’t include a correct option). Answers to ALL of the assigned work is in
the back of the book (not just every-other question), making assignments
meaningless…except that it’s obvious who is just copying because there
are SO MANY errors in the answer key. I won’t use it again – it would be
better to select a longer book, and be pickier about what you assign.
