Description

Psychopathology lies at the centre of effective psychiatric practice and mental health care, and Fish’s Clinical Psychopathology has shaped the training and clinical practice of psychiatrists for over fifty years. The fourth edition of this modern classic presents the clinical descriptions and psychopathological insights of Fish’s to a new generation of students and practitioners. It includes recent revisions of diagnostic classification systems, as well as new chapters that consider the controversies of classifying psychiatric disorder and the fundamental role and uses of psychopathology. Clear and readable, it provides concise descriptions of the signs and symptoms of mental illness and astute accounts of the varied manifestations of disordered psychological function, and is designed for use in clinical practice. An essential text for students of medicine, trainees in psychiatry and practising psychiatrists, it will also be useful to psychiatric nurses, mental health social workers and clinical psychologists.

⭐ I want American psychiatry residency heads brought up on charges for neglecting this fabulous tome! It is the latest edition of a storied manual, and there is some on-line chatter as to which edition is best. I have not compared the various editions directly, but this edition is superb and superbly written. Its authors are almost inconceivably erudite, or maybe we American psychiatrists are just poorly trained. Check out the primary author’s bio, it reads like an SNL send-up of a resume! In any event, if you are learning psychiatry as a resident, fellow, or conscientious attending, you have to get this book.

⭐ Really don’t get the hype. The same information can be found in the Oxford Handbook, written more clearly and succinctly. At least I can see why Psychiatry is so complicated from this ‘classic’: no one can agree on what is abnormal or how to define and categorise it. To remember anything from this book be prepared to rewrite in your own words with reference to the Oxford Handbook. Or don’t, if you’d prefer to just pay homage to our stumbling forefathers.

⭐ For that money, I was expecting to be crushed by the weight of it. Let’s hope the content is heavier.

⭐ Nice book but expensive

⭐ sadly, comparisons are inevitable, Sim’s psychopathology is still infinitely superior… don’t waste your money with this book.

⭐ Some for the psychiatrists desk sas he writes reports. Notes

⭐ As real as it gets , undamaged and brand new for Rs.675.

⭐ Costly

⭐ Good quality, good book

⭐ NOSOLOGY EXPLAINED GOOD.
