Description

In the innovative field of cosmetic dermatology, the range of products and methods available to patients is expanding all the time. Prominent among these are facial fillers, which, when injected into and beneath the skin, help alleviate wrinkles and improve smoothness. However, the many fillers on offer have varying characteristics and effects, and practitioners must be properly trained in order to administer them safely and successfully.

Injectable Fillers offers those performing these popular procedures an in-depth and far-reaching survey of current best practices, with a strong emphasis on safety. Covering everything from the science behind facial fillers to their appropriate means of application, the book places each product in context, demonstrating the pros and cons of the expanding range of hyaluronic acids and calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres, and exploring injectable submental fat reduction with sodium deoxycholate. This second edition broadens the scope of discussion to also include chin, mandible, temple, nose, brow, and forehead injections, as well as the use of cannulas as an alternative to needles.

User’s Reviews

Review “Boeckx has a deep familiarity with all of the (very wide-ranging)material he presents, and has done original and important work inseveral of these areas. He is a lucid and engaging expositor, andis highly qualified in every respect to undertake an enterprise ofthis nature … [He] brings together the right topics, someright at the edge or even at the horizons of research. If I wereteaching undergraduate or graduate courses in these areas, I cannotthink of a competing text that I would prefer.”–Noam Chomsky –This text refers to the hardcover edition. Reviews from Amazon users, collected at the time the book is getting published on UniedVRG. It can be related to shiping or paper quality instead of the book content:

⭐ This book has a lot of good information but when I purchase a book that cost this much j expect the pictures to be of good quality – vibrant colors, on thick nice feeling paper and easy to read and enjoy. The pics in this book are not. Disappointed because I waited too long to return.

⭐ Good book to read and review every so often to make sure we remember the basics.

⭐ Not worth the money!

⭐ This book exceeded my expectations on so many levels. The co-editor, Dr. Arthur Swift, is a landmark in teaching and training in the field of injectable fillers. This book has a very precise and straight-to-the-point explanation and direction on how to administer safe facial injections. It also teaches you how to assess your patient thoroughly, how to take correct and accurate facial measurements and the proper techniques to carry out your treatment plan in exquisite detail. The accompanying videos are the cherry on top of the cake to complete this fantastic learning experience. This is the best money I have ever spent on a book. period.

⭐ I have enjoyed reading this book and have really helpful content however Tried using videos access which require password and I am not able to find it any where if some can help with password please where about is in book? Thank you

⭐ Enjoyed it very much. Thank you Dr.Swift

⭐ Arthur Swift is such a legend of this field that I am honoured to be writing what looks like the first review of this landmark book. Whilst Jones and Swift are editors, the list of contributors is broad and includes a number of great names from the cosmetic dermatology speaker circuit such as Woffles Wu and Krishnan Kapoor.Chapter one cuts right to the chase – vascular safety. Practical, detailed, exhaustive advice on keeping the patient safe. Many, many anatomical photos demonstrating vascular anatomy, and meticulous advice on avoiding vascular occlusions. Swift DeLorenzi and Kapoor are to be congratulated. This chapter leaves the consensus statements found in the journals well behind on this literally vital topic. 33 chapter referencesChapter Two is really Arthur’s presentation on the science of beauty: neuroaesthetics and evolutionary psychology. A nice review of the state of the art, with lots of solid science and a sweeping review of the history and philosophy of aesthetics, with some detailed and insightful commentary of what might constitute beautiful outcomes after treating the range of specific facial features, but I will say (in my totally personal view) let down a bit by the pseudoscience of Phi. Phi is the astrology of pulchritudiatry; nonfalsifiable in Popper’s sense. But, hey, if it floats ya boat Arthur …37 chapter referencesChapters 3 through 9 work through the temple and the forehead, the eyebrow, the periorbit, the cheeks and midface, injection rhinoplasty, lips, mandible/jawline/chin, and submental contouring with deoxycholate. The range of contributors is introduced, giving this work a strong collaborative and consensus feel, with Jones or Swift co-authoring most chapters for a sense of continuity and integrity (Wu, of course, gets his own chapter on noses). And chapter after chapter presents with loads of anatomy and precise, IKEA-like instructions for the novices with plenty of science and explicatory rationale for the pros. Dozens of references accompany each chapter. The book ends as it began, with a final chapter on avoiding and managing complications. For any goose can indiscriminately squirt a needle into a face (and many a goose does) but the trained medical professional brings maximal security to the task, courage and caution, knowing all that is known while respecting the inevitable unknowns. Another 29 references.Into the bargain is thrown a total of 96 minutes of video instruction across ten chapter videos, accessible on-line.This book might serve as an unparalleled resource for the most exacting clinicians in this field, or, as I hope, a core text for a medical post-grad course in cosmetic dermatology.Outstanding.

⭐ I am a nurse injector, instructor for filler and botox courses. I found this book very valuable for it’s anatomy. It’s a complete book of injection safety and techniques!

⭐ Excellent book by a very well respected physician.Great up to date content. A must have book for every injector. Packed with need to know information.

⭐ This content !!!!! It’s gold !! It’s a MUST buy for injectors !!!
