Description

The advent of small, affordable ultrasound machines and the widespread use of PACS systems have made imaging more accessible to anaesthetists and intensivists than ever before. This concise, highly illustrated text discusses the key aspects of radiology, examining all imaging modalities and body regions. Introductory sections review the imaging knowledge required for the FRCA exams and the role of imaging in the Pre-Operative Assessment. These are followed by chapters on each imaging modality and body region, each containing numerous illustrations, practical advice on diagnosis, and many case illustrations. Each modality chapter contains a concise introductory section on the principles of image formation. Containing over 300 scans and illustrations, and written by a multidisciplinary team of radiologists and anaesthetists, Radiology for Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, second edition, is an invaluable aid for all anaesthetists and intensivists.

User’s Reviews

Review ‘… it provides examination candidates with an excellent system for interpreting radiological investigations, uses clinical examples to test core knowledge, and discusses the implications of providing an anaesthetic service in radiological departments.’ British Journal of Anaesthesia’Major advantages of this book are the digressions on providing anaesthesia in the digressions on providing anaesthesia in the setting of interventional radiology/magnetic resonance imaging and the detailed review on ultrasound techniques, particularly those associated with interventional procedures. In this respect, although the text appears to cater primarily for students and postgraduate trainees, practising clinicians not already familiar with these techniques may find these sections particularly useful. … a useful addition to a departmental library.’ Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Book Description Concise, highly illustrated text covers the key aspects of all imaging modalities of relevance to anaesthetists and intensivists. Book Description All anaesthetists and intensivists request radiological investigations and need to interpret the results quickly and accurately. This concise, practical, highly illustrated text covers the key aspects of all imaging modalities, is organised by both body region and imaging modality, and written by a multidisciplinary team of radiologists and anaesthetists.

Reviews from Amazon users, collected at the time the book is getting published on UniedVRG. It can be related to shiping or paper quality instead of the book content:

⭐ Love the concept: going over the most common situations encountered in the anesthetic and general intensive care practice. The book is easy to read, has carefully selected images and is generally accurate. The image reproduction is not always satisfactory – images are quite small and the resolution is sub average for an imaging book obscuring the radiologic signs. Printing immaging book can get quite expensive and the market for this book may not be too large so this is not unexpected. Wished the publisher could provide and online or kindle book with better resolution images.

⭐ It is very helpful in preparation of EDIC part II.
