Description

High-Yield™ Histopathology, Second Edition reviews the relationships of basic histology to the pathology, physiology, and pharmacology of clinical conditions that are tested on the USMLE Step 1 and seen in clinical practice. The book includes case studies that prepare students for the clinical vignette questions on the USMLE Step 1 along with numerous illustrations, clinical images, and tables for reference and study. This edition includes additional information on male and female tumors and breast cancer, new images of clinical conditions, and several new tables, line drawings, and graphs. The figure legends and text are more succinct, and the Clinical Considerations sections are more consistently organized—characteristics, symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment.

Reviews

If you are a surgery resident, try this book. It’s longer than a review text but much easier to read than Sabiston’s/Schwartz/Cameron’s etc. You still need to read the actual “bible” textbooks and literature at some point, but this will make you not want to claw your eyes out when you need to do some quality reading on a bad day. It’s especially useful when you’re about to start a subspecialty rotation and want to look reasonably competent as compared to the average rotator, and it’s much, much nicer to have in your bag than a heavy hardcover.
