⭐UPDATE: I scored 250s and to give a fairer review, it does highlight the truly HY points. I went back to highlight the sections that I had questions on, and every few pages for the first half of the book was marked so I just gave up. Annotating with UW is great, but the awful organization makes it so frustrating and time consuming. I also skipped most of the questions that just wasted space in the book IMO. Oncology (aside from screening guidelines) is also non-existent in here, so I went back to pathoma to review some of those sections (eg lung cancer). I supplemented towards the end flipping through FA CK for derm, sports med, and ethics – the rapid review was not as great as it was for step 1. Good luck!————————————————————————————————————————Originally 1/5: It’s very basic and bare bones information, which I was expecting based on some reviews. I’m fine annotating with UWorld into it, and there’s plenty of space in the book to do so – but I’m digging around forever, flipping pages to figure out where the topic is because there’s no pattern to how they’re organized – not head to toe, not totally timeline based (for Ob), and it’s infuriating. Even with the chapters it goes from cards, to ID, to allergy, then endo, then pulm, etc and I have yet to figure out why. As for the classic thought of MTB 3 for the non-IM sections – at least for Peds, there’s a decent amount of standard information missing from the MTB 2 section (vaccines, chromosomal disorders) that’s in 3 – so you’re going to be shuffling through a lot of pages. I’d advise against buying the two MTB and just buy one First Aid or Step Up book or something. Or even not buying a text for CK and just jotting down UW notes to make your own.

⭐Reviewing the new, 4th edition:Got this book to study for Step 2 CK with about 3 weeks before the exam.Pros:-Easy to read-High-yield information in boxes on the side-Logical groupings of diagnoses together-Common pitfalls of students outlinedCons:-Seems geared towards the average test-taker. If you are gunning for a high score, this book does NOT include a lot of the more esoteric material. Specifically, multiple questions in the newest NBME cannot be answered by looking at this book-Inconsistent level of detail for certain diagnoses. Too much for some, too little for others-Paucity of mnemonics or memory aids

⭐3.5-4, I rounded up. I wasn’t sure what the best study materials for Step 2 CK were when I bought this book. Spoiler alert: it’s Uworld all the way. I had the best of intentions to read this book but ended up focusing mainly on Uworld. At the beginning of my dedicated time, it was a bit too time consuming to read the chapters if you’re trying to bust through 3-4 blocks of Uworld per day too. Towards the end of my dedicated time, I did read some of the book and what I read was very good. It has a more coherent way of presenting the info that ties big concepts together better than doing random Uworld questions on it, but is insufficient on its own. I thought it was very useful as a review, after doing several Uworld questions on a topic, because then you move through it quickly and it ties everything together nicely. Got a 254, read a few chapters of this book. I think it did help with those a bit. To summarize; not a necessity, but useful if you have the time.

⭐Got this as a gift for my sister in med school. She passed so it must have worked

⭐I recently started my ck preparation and can only say this book is a mess, its poorly organized and the index its impossible to use as there are thing listed in the index that are not where the book says and things that are in the book but not listed in the index, honestly avoid this book and find another resource or stick to Uworld, this book is very incomplete and a waste of my time, i wish i could return it.

⭐Surprising amount of info missing, I feel it’s assumed you will dictate into this booklet as added study material b/c I haven’t come across a book that talks about OB/GYN w/o mentioning choriocarcinoma and it’s management, so that’s once example of filling in the gaps.

⭐This book was good in that it was comprehensive and I could read through it in the short time I had to prep for CK. However, I frequently came across inaccuracies (recommending silver nitrate eye drops for newborns, clumping copper and hormonal IUDs and saying they both last 10 years) which were kind of unsettling in a test prep setting. I also didn’t love how it was organized–and the small blips on the side of the pages weren’t always aligned with the main text, which was confusing.

⭐The book on itself is nice and to the point for quick review for the board. I just hope whoever is printing these books can make sure that there is no missing pages. I was full on into my studies when I realized that I am missing about 40 pages (very disappointing) from 670 to 703 pages. There is no tear in the book and it was purchased brand new so…..

⭐Item arrived on the predicted timeline and as described.

⭐MTB is a good book to cover most of the FAQs for Step 2. It gives a quick review of all the subspecialities tested in the exam – Best initial test, Most accurate test, Next best step etc. The chapter on Preventive Medicine is too short, but I guess , not everything can be thoroughly covered in a single book. Overall, a great buy. Thank Dr. Fischer

⭐This book will cover 75-80% of DIFFICULT QUESTIONS for you. I would strongly recommend to cover this book with Kaplan high yield lectures for a high score!

⭐Arrived without any damage, and it is a very good book!

⭐The book is amazing, material is great. Was delivered on time, I received it today, unfortunately the book was damaged in two difference spots, which I was disappointed about.
