⭐Swati Kaushal has done it again. A great follow-up on the previous novel, Swati has written another must read. Having read her previous books, I had been eagerly awaiting the release of Lethal Spice and was richly rewarded by another fabulous novel. Ended up staying up late to finish this highly engaging read. Highly recommend.

⭐Swati Kaushal’s intelligent style, her vivid characters, suspenseful plot keep the readers engaged all the way through to the end. Each scene is beautifully crafted taking the reader to the exotic places and allowing the readers to savor all the dishes in the competitions, evoking all our senses. Would love to meet Nikki Marwah again and even some of the other characters in the story.

⭐The book arrived in a well packaged manner with no dents..The letters are printed in a little smaller font so a bit strain on the eyes while you read..But you get used to it in a couple of pages..The story seems tempting enough to read,but sadly the plot is not so intriguing…The elements of a good thriller are there,but the narrative makes it a bit boring… Definitely not a good thriller.

⭐A rambling book where 100 pages could easily have been lessened. Unnecessary details cannot really add ‘spice’ to any mystery. The solution was relatively simple nothing like a blast. Comoletely hated the fact that I have wasted 4 days on this book. AVOID.

⭐Quite a transition, from Swati’s first book, A Piece of Cake, set in the world of Delhi yuppiedom to Lethal Spice, tackling a venomous murderer criss crossing the country from Simla to nature reserves to the beaches of Goa.The protagonists also have changed, with Lethal Spice marking the 2nd outing of Niki Marwah, a Superintendent of Police based in Shimla. With Top Chef, Swati adroitly latches on to the popularity of cooking shows like Master Chef Australia, and gives it some Big Boss like tadka. Starting with the tragic death of Mala Joseph, we plunge into the Chef eat Chef world of reality cooking, where a salt cellar could just as easily contain strychnine. We’re also in Kemaal’s world, India’s best known chain of Kebab joints, kind of like a criss cross between Sanjeev Kapoor and Tunde Mian. Unfortunately for Nikki, this time around she’s without her beau Ram, himself no mean cook, who’s been despatched by Swati to an Italian cooking course in Florence. This leaves Niki to sort out the contestants of Top Chef herself, from spoilt heiress Pallavi, to girl next door Leena, to Viki, the boy who likes to play with fire, Shaq the pro chef and Sharon the sexpot. We’re thrown deep into their world, as we match wits with Niki trying to figure out whodunit.If you’re looking for a gripping detective novel, with the added advantage of it being set close to home, you can’t go wrong with Lethal Spice. For me, I’m looking forward to Niki’s next outing.

⭐A very good read at a very low price..

⭐Well crafted story, must read.
