Reviews

As a Paramedic student, I took the opportunity to review this book in preparation for my OSCE’s and it proved beneficial in helping me pass. Medical Student Survival Skills: History Taking and Communication skills by Philip Jevon & Steve Odogwu explores the fundamental skills a medical professional requires to successfully record patient conditions and explains the procedure of using proper communication skills to achieve positive patient interaction and outcomes.

It provides short reference guides for students in preparation for their OSCE’s and explores how to obtain and record patient medical histories, identifying symptoms and how to differentiate several conditions from breathing, pain and other conditions.

It also includes patient strategies on how to deal with angry patients, counselling, breaking bad news and overall how to act professionally within the work environment.

I would recommend this to anybody who needs extra help in their communication skills, as there is a lot to learn in this book.
