Description

The original book “Practical Cardiology” was primarily designed as a reference for general practitioners in the fast growing area of cardiology. The book was published in 1999 into a market notorious for not purchasing books. The concept is to be rewritten to access a broader market of clinical medical students, GP registrars in training and cardiac nurses. Market conditions have changed at all levels – undergraduate/trainee and practising. The market has grown at undergraduate level, the trainee curriculum is undergoing significant change and practitioners are responding to new products following changes in healthcare levies. “Examination Cardiology” will use the same problem based approach but will be updated and redesigned. The table of contents is provisionally the same as the original book. Many of the drawings and diagrams which come from Clinical Examination, are vastly improved in their colour versions in CE5. An additional contributor will author a chapter on ECG interpretation. This book will have a supplementary DVD of cardiac procedures. There will be general references and further reading at the end of each chapter.

Reviews

I bought this book after having a wonderful experience with his other book which is less in depth but still a great reference. This book is so helpful and concise, and this is one of those books I continue referencing. I’ll go through a section, take notes, then months later want to brush up on a topic, and it seems that I’m constantly still learning yet the topic never seems unattainable in understanding. No regrets – I love this book and when it’s falling apart in a year or two, I’ll even consider buying it again. I’m a new PA in cardiology and this book has saved me innumerable times. πŸ™‚
