Description

The authors’ constant interactions with medical students in the classroom, on the hospital ward, and in oral examinations ever since this pocket atlas first appeared in English 2001 have enabled them to update both the text and the illustrations for this new English edition. Like its predecessor, the 2nd edition provides a concise, thorough and up-to-date introduction to the field of ophthalmology. Medical students on ophthalmology rotations, as well as beginning residents, will find it an invaluable companion on the ward and a useful aid for test preparation. Fully trained physicians and other health professionals, too, will be able to use it for a self-taught refresher course in ophthalmology. The special features of this book include:More than 500 clear, well-drawn illustrations and color photographs illustrating clinical findings, disease pathophysiology, and moreMany new illustrations since the previous edition reflecting the latest developments in the field, particularly in the chapters on the retina and the corneaA new appendix containing correlations between clinical findings and the latest examining techniques, as well as a guide to visual field defectsComprehensive presentation of examining techniques An expanded glossary and a copiously illustrated table of important anatomical structuresA convenient and comprehensive table of cardinal manifestations of disease with associated findings, probable diagnoses, and suggestions for diagnostic work-upClearly and consistently organized chapters on all major diseasesJust as in the 1st edition, the individual chapters are organized to maximize their usefulness as a teaching tool:Each chapter begins with the relevant basic concepts in anatomy and physiologyAll diseases are consistently presented in accordance with clinical logic: first the symptoms, then the examination findings, then the diagnosisThe diseases are both described in words and shown in didactically useful illustrationsUnderstand the entire field of ophthalmology with this compact, beautifully illustrated text!

Reviews

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐i used this book on my ophthalmology home and away rotations. it served as my bible. it covers the breadth of all sub specialties in ophthalmology in sufficient detail so that you’ll have a general idea about what the residents and faculty are talking to you about in clinic. it focuses on pathophysiology and diagnosis, less on treatment. lots of colorful images to hit those points home. best part is it fits in your white coat pocket. highly recommend for medical students + starting residents.

⭐I used this book for my 4th-year ophthalmology rotation. The book is well-written and covers anatomy, clinical techniques, and all of the basic diseases. The chapters are organized anatomically, which makes it easy to locate sections of interest. The text also provides a nice summary of common surgical procedures.

⭐A great go-to book. Helpful photographs. Well explained. Length just right for an interested GP.

⭐You learn nothing about ophthalmology in medical school. If you are planning to do an ophthalmology elective, this book is quite helpful. It fits in your white coat, lots of pictures, easy to read, and gets to the point. Great buy

⭐The book was in a very good condition. I’m impressed.

⭐No algorithms or differentials for the clinician using this as a practicing reference. This is more of a school text book.

⭐FGEREAT REFERENCE

⭐OK.

⭐Brief overview of many topics. The main bulk of the book is about ocular diseases which are broken down by anatomy. Each disease has a definition, description, symptoms, differential diagnosis and treatment. Although sometimes a section, such as differential diagnosis, maybe missing but mostly they all present. The book has good pictures but the kindle version will not be in colour. Overall the book is quite basic but is a useful quick reference for optometry students.

⭐Das Buch is praktisch für jungen medizin studenten während des Praktikums. die Bilder in das Buch sind sehr typisch und einfach zu verstehen.
