Description

OphthoBook is the printed version of the amazing OphthoBook.com online book and video series. The combination of this text, along with the online video lectures, creates the most informative and easy-to-understand ophthalmology review ever written. It is geared toward medical students, optometry students, and non-ophthalmologists who want to learn more about the eye without getting bogged down with mindless detail. The book is broken down into ten chapters: 1. Eye History 2. Anatomy 3. Glaucoma 4. Retina 5. Infection 6. Neuroophthalmology 7. Pediatric Ophthalmology 8. Trauma 9. Optics 10. Lens and Cataract Each chapter also includes “pimp questions” you might be asked in a clinic. Also, an entire chapter of ophthalmology board-review questions, flashcards, and eye abbreviations. Perhaps most useful, each chapter corresponds to the 20-minute video lectures viewable at OphthoBook.com. And lots of fun cartoons!

Reviews

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐This book has really helped me study and gear my clinical thinking. I like the occasional jokes but I don’t think that they’re really quite as funny as some of the critical acclaims boast. Don’t get me wrong, it’s an excellent book.I especially like the segmented sections with very direct teaching points. He gets straight to the point without boring you to death. I find the small illustrations really helpful (and sometimes funny). If you’re and optometry student or optometric technician alike, it’s a great tool if you’re needing a guide or generalized reference tool in the beginning.

⭐In PA school we used the online version of this text as an adjunct to class material. It makes learning ophthalmology fun and easy and is written in a way that even our students that have had no prior medical training easily understood the concepts. There are also online videos offered by Dr. Root which are hilarious and very engaging. I am currently in my rotations and still refer back to this book frequently.

⭐Hey- this book is awesome for any med student who is about to do an ophtho clinical rotation! EASY READ! Simplified to the max, but informative enough to make you look like you know what you are talking about. Great pneumonics and metaphors that will really stick! It took me two days to read it (can be read in one day), right before the start of my rotation, and I was set for the entire time I was there!

⭐Should be required text for all optometry students. Practicing Optometrists too. Explanations are clear and concise with liberal doses of humor. Dr Roots Rootatlas website has excellent videos as well as digital edition of Ophthobook. (Free). Get this book, you won’t be sorry.

⭐I am a nurse that recently started working in the operating room with eye cases and was completely overwhelemed. This book saved me- it is incredibly easy to read and makes the learning entertaining. The book was written for medical students so it does have more information than needed for a nurse but helps with the baiscs: anatomy/physiology, pathology, retina detachments, cataracts, muscles surgery, etc.

⭐I recently got a job working in an ophthalmology department at a large university medical center. While I just work the front desk scheduling & checking patients in & out, I wanted something that would give me a good intro to what goes on here. Clearly, I won’t be performing any of the procedures discussed here, but I schedule them & have to answer general questions from patients each day & this book (& the online videos) taught me alot & has made my job a little easier more enjoyable.

⭐I got through all 3 books relatively quickly. Super solid. Entertaining and pleasant to read. I learned a lot. Definitely would recommend getting through this + question book + dictionary for a solid start in ophtho. Thanks!

⭐Great Ophtho book for learning the basics of Ophthalmology which a nursing or even a medical student would find useful. Also appears to be helpful for preparing for basic eye related board questions. I have not viewed the related videos so I can’t comment on those.

⭐Livro conciso e completo.

⭐Very good explanation.. Easy word used..

⭐OphthoBook is such a great guide for beginners with neat tips and tricks to easily memorize difficult concepts and seem proficient in the clinic. Thanks, Dr. Root!

⭐Very useful and very easy to understand.
