Description

Neuroprotection has been placed on a firm scientific basis during the past decade due to an improved understanding of the molecular basis of neurological diseases and the knowledge that treatment of neurological disorders should not be merely symptomatic but preventative against the progression of the underlying disease, as well as regenerative. The Handbook of Neuroprotection serves as a comprehensive review of neuroprotection based on knowledge of the molecular basis of neurological disorders. Neuroprotective effects of older, established drugs, as well as new drugs in development, are well documented in this detailed volume, featuring the most cutting-edge and innovative methods currently in use. In-depth and authoritative, The Handbook of Neuroprotection features a compendium of vital knowledge aimed at providing researchers with an essential reference for this key neurological area of study.

⭐Jain’s Handbook is written, I believe, to be used as a resource for physicians and other healthcare providers. Chapter 2, running to more than 100 pages, provides a comprehensive overview of neuroprotective agents, both pharmaceutical and `natural,’ and gives their basic mechanics and applications, along with clinical trial status where applicable. The subsequent 11 chapters focus on specific areas of neuroprotection, for example, as it applies to traumatic brain injury, to AD, to the peripheral nervous system. Information concerning efficacy and clinical trial status are also provided. The Handbook is written in a clear style and goes into a reasonable level of detail, given its breadth. The research appears to be current; neurological injuries discussed include ones common among Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans. For me, noteworthy is the frequency development of apparently promising new drugs is discontinued by pharmaceutical companies. Finally, I mention a slight weakness of the Handbook – the index lacks some entries for some terms and even section topics. Since the Handbook is likely to be used as a reference resource, it is particularly important that the index is exhaustive to enable the reader to find any relevant information the Handbook may have.

⭐Very interesting book and service delivery it was just in time. I recommend this book

Huntington’s, retinal degeneration (from mac degeneration, glaucoma, Alzheimer’s, and Multiple Sclerosis. This is a drug manual, and molecular approach to neurological problems , ranging from eye pathologies including stem cell therapy from bone marrow, fetal, and neural progenitor cells. Psychotropic and neurohormonal peptides like BDNF, Lithium, NGF, and CSF are given separate consideration. There is an attempt made to cover all areas of Neurology, Ophthalmology, and Neurosurgery. I recommend this wonderful book for all audiences.
