Comparison of the success rate of balloon catheter dilatation of the nasolacrimal duct with probing and irrigation as primary treatment for congenital dacryostenosis. The study analyzed outcomes in children operated between 2004 and 2006, finding that balloon catheter dilatation resulted in a slightly better overall success rate (89.5% vs 86.7%), with statistically significant improvement in patients experiencing firm bone resistance.
