Description

This randomized controlled trial assessed the non-inferiority of administering parenteral nutrition (PN) without added heparin (0.5 IU/mL) versus PN with heparin in reducing peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) intraluminal obstruction in preterm neonates. The study concluded that PN without heparin was non-inferior to the addition of heparin on reducing catheter obstruction.
