Description

Douglas Krull’s enthusiasm for the field comes through in this new introduction to psychology. The conversational style makes psychological science accessible while the engaging and occasionally humorous examples facilitate learning. Frequent encouragement to practice critical thinking emphasizes this as an important aspect of the field; a psychologist’s work requires not only the collection of research findings but also the ability to reason about the meaning of those findings. Additional features of the text include in-depth coverage of psychology’s major subfields, regular prompts that encourage review and reinforce learning, and an entire chapter devoted to the psychology of religion.

Reviews

I teach dermatology courses at three universities and provide educational opportunities in the clinical setting for medical, nurse practitioner, and physician assistant students. I highly recommend this as required reading for several reasons. The book is a well organized resource for novice to expert clinicians. The primary and contributing authors are respected clinicians and national educators who share their expertise related to dermatologic disease. Each chapter contains numerous colorful pictures, followed by evidenced based algorithms, pharmacologic management pearls, as well as fun facts! I found the inclusion of the current ICD-10 billing codes provided in each chapter to be a helpful and unique feature that sets this apart from other dermatology textbooks. The book is succinct and concludes with an internet resource section that makes it valuable for anyone who advocates for disease prevention and early detection of cutaneous conditions.
