Description
Microbiology and Molecular Diagnosis in Pathology: A Comprehensive Review for Board Preparation, Certification and Clinical Practice reviews all aspects of microbiology and molecular diagnostics essential to successfully passing the American Board of Pathology exam. This review book will also serve as a first resource for residents who want to become familiar with the diagnostic aspects of microbiology and molecular methods, as well as a refresher course for practicing pathologists. Opening chapters discuss issues of laboratory management, including quality control, biosafety, regulations, and proper handling and reporting of laboratory specimens.
Reviews
This text book is loaded down with poorly communicated, extraneous details that no right-minded student is going commit the time to memorize and no right-minded professor would require for memorization. For example, I’ll was reading along about Malaria and sentence after sentence is simply naming effective medications. While I believe this type of information should be included in the book, it should be in a table format – such that an instructor can simply say – “memorize table such-and-such”. Reading it in sentence format is analogous to reading the book of Numbers in the Old Testament. A well written text-book will be captivating. Lists and complicated processes should not be included in the text of the book because it disrupts the flow reading. They should strictly be included in figures and tables and simply referred to in the text. I.e. “See table 23.4 for the list of characteristics symptoms, diagnostic techniques, and effective medications for this disease”. Then move on to the next topic.
