Reviews

You are presented with a case vignette and a photo/xray/ECG and then simply turn the page to see the answer. A great review of 250 different cases. Lots of stuff is classic knowledge great for clinical use and the boards and there are certainly a few zebras thrown in for good measure. I think this would be an excellent, easy to read text for starting the intern year. The pictures are all high quality with very few exceptions (cases 82, 140, 206a).

I do wish that ECGs were given more real estate on the page. In the current version most images are around 4x5cm. I found these somewhat difficult to read. It would be nice to occasionally have summary tables / bullet points at the end of an important vignette, but then again, that is likely personal preference as tables are the way I learn best.

In all, I am happy with my purchase. Educational materials are only useful if you can get a resident or medical student to pick them up and read them. A book like this makes it easy. Picking it up and reading 5 cases a day is an achievable goal that anyone can accomplish. I think this book would be great for family medicine residents also.
