Description

Sitting an accreditation examination is a daunting prospect for many trainee echocardiographers. And with an increasing drive for the accreditation of echocardiography laboratories and individual echocardiographers, there is a need for an all-encompassing revision aid for those seeking accreditation.

Reviews

I used this and the SCCM publication. This book is tailored for the SCC exam, whereas the SCCM book is useful but is more for MICU types. The first half covers SICU topics, and the second half goes over trauma/ACS topics, which is about the same breakdown as the exam. It’s a good review for trauma treatment in fields that general surgeons don’t usually focus on (ortho, urology, etc.). My main criticism is that the questions are unnecessarily difficult because of the way they are written – most are of the “which of these is/is not correct” variety, which is extremely confusing. I don’t really care since this is just for studying, and because it was probably the easiest way for the authors to cram the questions full of info, but I will note that the ABSITE, ABS gen surg written boards, and SCC exams all use much more straightforward wording that is designed to take that ambiguity away. So if you’re messing up all the questions because you forgot if you were supposed to be picking the true or false answer this time around, take heart.
