Description

Bone loss is still a major issue that dentists encounter, but it is a complication that can be prevented. By combining clinical experience with peer-reviewed scientific evidence, the author of this book has put together a guide that any implant specialist will find invaluable to prevent bone loss in their patients. Different strategies are presented that can be used to achieve zero bone loss years after treatment. Because successful treatment depends on both the surgical and prosthetic components, the book is divided into two parts, each focusing in depth on what must be done in each phase to promote bone stability. Case presentations detail many types of clinical situations, implant choices, and prosthetic solutions, all backed by evidence-based clinical studies that have proven success. 1,231 illustrations Contents: Section I: Surgical Concepts 1. Surgical Factors for Establishing Crestal Bone Stability 2. Implant Design Factors 3. Implant Placement Depth 4. Vertical Soft Tissue Thickness 5. Subcrestal Implant Placement 6. Flattening of the Alveolar Ridge 7. The Tent-Pole Technique 8. Vertical Soft Tissue Augmentation 9. Attached Tissues Around Dental Implants 10. Practical Recommendations for Implant Placement Section II: Prosthetic Concepts 11. Prosthetic Factors for Maintaining Crestal Bone Stability 12. Considerations for Cement-Retained Restorations 13. Cement/Screw-Retained Restorations 14. Titanium Base Solutions for Fixed Partial Dentures 15. Abutment Alternatives 16. Influence of the Emergence Profile 17. Prosthetic Materials 18. Subgingival Materials 19. Avoiding Zirconia Without Zirconia Restorations 20. Supragingival Materials for Implant Reconstructions

Reviews

It goes without saying that this textbook is a wonderful source of important, concise information.

The question, of course, is whether or not the eTextbook version is readily searchable. Judging from the preview available, one would conclude that this ebook is NOT readily searchable from the TOC; however, I took the gamble (after contacting Amazon and arranging for a refund if I did not like it on my Kindle or PC) and discovered that the table of contents is very searchable. On my Kindle, the individual sections are easily obtained by tapping at the top margin, hitting “Go to” ,and then swiping up or down at the bottom of the page. Each chapter is then obtained by turning the page forward and back in the usual way, and then just tap on the desired selection. On my desktop PC, the individual sections in the TOC are readily obtained by clicking on the TOC icon in the upper left. The individual chapters are then displayed to see and click on.

There is an index at the end, which can easily be fast-forwarded on my PC, but the slide-bar at the bottom on my Kindle requires a fine touch. Very happy!
