The book is organized into five main parts that include history and discovery of virus-tumor complications, taxonomy and classification of oncoviruses, oncoviruses around the world, including epidemiology statistics and current methods. Finally, the book looks at the molecular epidemiology of DNA and RNA viruses and their role in the pathogenesis of human cancers.Provides an overview of the history, discovery, taxonomy and biology of oncovirusesOffers the fundamentals of viral implications in human tumorsCovers the molecular epidemiology and oncologic implications and associations of DNA and RNA oncoviruses

Reviews

Editorial Reviews: Review Comprehensive reference that provides an overview of the history, discovery and molecular biology of oncoviruses and the role of viral infections in the tumorgenesis process From the Back Cover Oncogenic Viruses: Fundamentals of Oncoviruses is the first of two volumes of this title. Volume 1 kicks things off by providing an overview of the history of human oncoviruses, how to discover and define an oncovirus, how viruses cause cancer in general, their oncogenic mechanisms and epidemiology, and the cancer biology of oncoviruses. The book is organized into five main parts. It begins with the history and discovery of virus-tumor complications. It then goes on to break down the taxonomy and classification of oncoviruses which includes the structural organization, genetic organization, and oncoviruses morphology in electronic microscopy. Part 3 covers oncoviruses around the world along with epidemiology statistics and current methods studies of oncoviruses. The last two parts discusses the molecular epidemiology of DNA and RNA viruses and their role in the pathogenesis of human cancers. Oncogenic Viruses: Fundamentals of Oncoviruses, Volume 1 offers an up-to-date introduction to oncoviruses and the role of viral infections in the tumorgenesis process.
