This new edition has large color photos throughout. Useful tables and growth curves, etc are also scattered throughout the text. The photos are large, clear and well labeled with labels and arrows. In a few instances the photos are enlarged slightly too much and as a result are slightly pixelated. But most are clear with appropriate resolution. The text is well written, understandable, and the font is easy to read. Because of the large size of the photos, often figures are not on the same page as the topic being discussed in the text, so some flipping back and forth may be necessary. Detailed instructions for autopsy procedure are included as well as chapters on pathologic findings. Overall this book nicely supplements other larger textbooks of pediatric pathology. It fills the void between autopsy books, pediatric surgical pathology books, and even embryology books. I recommend it to all pathologists and pathology residents/fellows.

For some healthcare professionals who are not ophthalmologists, diseases of the eyes can be a difficult to understand topic. Like any topic, once you master it then all of a sudden it seems a lot easier and makes much more sense. Certainly one way to master ophthalmology and get a better comprehension of the subject is to have access to this outstanding and excellent textbook. It is primarily aimed at specialist ophthalmologists both established and those in the training grades. However GPs with a special interest in ophthalmology or GPs who want an all-encompassing ophthalmology textbook may find that this fits the bill. Reviewed by glycosmedia.com, Jul 2015

Description

Written with the dermatology trainee in mind, Dermatopathology: Diagnosis by First Impression uses more than 800 high resolution color images to introduce a simple and effective way to defuse the confusion caused by dermatopathology slides. Focused on commonly tested entities, and using low- to high-power views, this atlas emphasizes the key differences between visually similar diseases by using appearance as the starting point for diagnosis.

Reviews

Well detailed and well written, but drawbacks abound, in its quest to cover as much information as possible, it almost derails into acting like an encyclopedia, in order to prepare for any board test, without sifting of information, the reader is bound to waste a lot of valuable time reading through this compendium of pathology. It is difficult to read but still a worthwile addition to any personal library. It’s good for use as a reference for practicing professionals but as a study book for board tests? i seriously doubt it, but i found it is helping me more than most books out there to prepare for my own test, since i know exactly what information i intend to obtain from it, the review book wasnt exactly an impressive addition to it, so i decided to use several books to prepare for my test.
