I’m pediatric pulmonlogist, I studied my post graduate degree in respiratory medicine in chlidren in Spain, since then, I have not seen any other book as good as Kendig’s in the pediatric respiratory field. This last edition is superb, I highly recommend it.

They have shortened Goodman and Gilman, removing much of the helpful physiology in the process. Of course this brand new version includes newer drugs. But this version doesn’t come close to superseding the old, and superior, editions. It is about 400 pages shorter, about 20%, effectively more than that because of some new chapters that are timely but not really to the point, at least according to my thoughts.

Absolutely instrumental for anyone doing an endocrine rotation. It would also be a good idea for internal medicine residents to have a copy for reference; endocrinology tends to be an area which for some reason gets overlooked.

Reviews

This book often uses terms without explaining them and makes early references to concepts or diseases that aren’t covered until much later in the book. It is not a good way to learn hematology for the first time, but would probably make a good review or reference book.
