Description

This, the first of two volumes on personalized medicine in lung cancer, touches on the core issues related to the understanding of lung cancer—statistics and epidemiology of lung cancer—along with the incidence of lung cancer in non-smokers. A major focus of this volume is the state of current therapies against lung cancer—immune, targeted therapies against EGFR TKIs, KRAS, ALK, angiogenesis; the associated challenges, especially resistance mechanisms; and recent progress in targeted drug development based on metal chemistry. Chapters are written by some of the leading experts in the field, who provide a better understanding of lung cancer, the factors that make it lethal, and current research focused on developing personalized treatment plans. With a unique mix of topics, this volume summarizes the current state-of-knowledge on lung cancer and the available therapies.

Description

As neuroradiologists, we deal daily with neurosurgical emergencies of one sort or another. While many of the decisions regarding patient management are clear, there are others about which the criteria for intervention or nonintervention are less well-appreciated. Examples abound: criteria for operating on an SDH, timing for operating or intervening on an aneurysm, treatment/decompression of acute spinal cord injury, etc.

I was very disappointed to see that the flash cards do not correlate to the tables in the textbook. For example: Moore’s text will list the spinal root and detailed origin of the muscle. The flash card does only has the major nerve and a summerized origin… It also does not include all of the muscle details. Very disappointing purchase as this is the primary reference anatomy text for our medical school.

Brilliant quick consulting room reference, with RELEVANT information for the busy eye care professional. A wonderful summary, aimed at Optometrist and GPs at the end of each chapter on how to deal with various eye conditions, when read in conjunction with local protocols this adds confidence to referrals. I also have a ‘baby Kanski’, and overall I feel there are more good quality photos in the Kanski; the Moorfields book is definitely more of a manual than Kanski with the management guidance it gives.
