The series covers cardiology, dermatology, endocrinology & metabolism, gastroenterology, haematology, infectious diseases, neurology, ophthalmology, psychiatry, renal medicine, respiratory medicine, and rheumatology. Each title features frequently asked questions that encompass the 3 elements of the Part 2 examination – Data, History and Imaging.

This new, up-to-date, concise revision guide for the iMRCS Part B examination equips candidates with the essential knowledge and armamentarium required to tackle the exam. Written in a model question-and-answer format to aid the breakdown of information, candidates can practise some of the most common exam questions they can expect to face. Including subdivisions on applied surgical science and critical care, anatomy and surgical pathology, surgical skills and patient safety and a section on clinical examinations of the limbs and spine, this guide will increase candidates’ confidence in both exam technique and key concepts. iMRCS Revision Guide: Limbs and Spine is a concise, handy pocket book; a ‘must have’ quick reference guide for busy surgical trainees studying for the iMRCS examination.

This comprehensive guide to MRI of the pregnant patient presenting with fetal or maternal diseases provides a practical, hands-on approach to the use of state-of-the-art MRI techniques and the optimization of sequences. It analyzes data obtained from maternal and fetal MRI examinations, reviews fast imaging techniques, details pitfalls related to fetal MRI and assesses methods for improving image resolution. Fetal pathological conditions and methods of prenatal MRI diagnosis are discussed according to organ system and the literature is reviewed. Interpretation of findings and potential artifacts are thoroughly considered with the aid of numerous high-quality illustrations. The book will be a detailed resource for radiologists, obstetricians, neonatologists and geneticists, as well as any other practitioner who wishes to gain an in-depth understanding of fetal and maternal MRI. In addition, it will serve as a reference source for technicians, researchers and students, as well as for any specialist who is planning to set up a fetal and maternal MRI service.
Provides cutting-edge information for cataract and refractive surgeons

Integrating MRI findings associated with the spectrum of problems seen in the most commonly treated joints in sports medicine with the diagnostic findings seen during arthroscopy of the same joint in the same patient, this unique text correlates this pathology and applies these findings to the clinic, the radiology reading room and the operating suite. Representing a microcosm of daily patient care, this type of interactive correlation is an exceedingly effective tool for education and continued learning, an impetus for interdisciplinary research collaboration and a critical part of an approach to optimum patient care. Furthermore, this case-based correlation between MRI imaging and arthroscopic findings and treatment is a well-received and effective method for teaching and discussion at meetings and instructional courses.
And that is the point. This book will be a fantastic educational resource for trainees across the world but also for consultants like me who want to update their knowledge in an interactive manner. Just one health warning. Many of these questions are difficult, so no one should expect to get all the answers correct….Recommended for trainees and consultant haematologists without reservation. (British Journal of Haematology, 2016)

This book provides the practising ophthalmologist and surgeon with up-to-date information on the use of multifocal intraocular lenses to eliminate pseudophakic presbyopia. Guidance is provided on types and models of intraocular lens, indications, selection of patients, implantation, neuroadaptation and complications and their avoidance. A key goal is to enable the practitioner to select the best lens for the individual patient, taking into account special circumstances. In addition, the results achieved to date with different lenses are analyzed and advice is given on the management of expectations. The authors are acknowledged international experts who draw upon their own experience and the peer-reviewed literature to provide the practitioner with cutting-edge information and evidence-based guidance.

Written to help haematology and general medical trainees evaluate their own knowledge, and particularly useful for those preparing for the Part 1 examination of the Royal College of Pathologists. This exam-centered book will also be of use to core medical trainees preparing for the examinations of the Royal College of Physicians and the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and to haematology and general medicine trainees in other countries where methods of examination are similar.
I do not ordinarily write negative reviews but I feel compelled to because this book is giving me palpitations. Positives are the guidelines, scoring systems and recent evidence that is included in the answers.
Negatives…well the questions seemed to be written to intentionally catch you out. And not through a lack of knowledge but through poor phrasing. It is incredibly frustrating and I think of the four MCQ books I have revised from for the forthcoming FFICM, these questions are the most ‘unfair’ by leagues. I still think it is a useful book because of the informative answers, however I hope the authors take heed from these reviews and greatly improve the format of the next edition.

Multiple Sclerosis (M.S.) is an inflammatory, often progressive, and potentially disabling disease of the central nervous system. Onset of the disease is usually between the ages of 15 and 50, with the incidence nearly twice as high in women. While the cause of M.S. is still unknown, the predominant theory is that it is an autoimmune disease, triggered by an unknown environmental factor that results in both loss of central nervous system myelin and degeneration of axons and neurons. Although there have been a number of publications addressing different aspects of M.S. treatment in the neurological literature, there is a dearth of material on M.S. designed for internists and primary care physicians, who are often the first to see patients presenting symptons of M.S. . Therefore, this concise, clinically focused volume will serve as a valuable resource tailored to the specific needs of internists and primary care physicians. Part of the Oxford Neurology Library, this highly practical pocketbook covers current approaches and new developments in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of M.S., including both early and advanced stages of the disease. The book offers in-depth coverage of special populations, as well as the more unusual manifestations of M.S., which are less familiar to the internal medicine audience. It will also address the role of imaging studies in the diagnosis, differential diagnosis and monitoring of the progression of M.S. . In addition to providing up-to-date information on pharmacological therapies for M.S., the book also describes an array of non-pharmacological treatment options.

Following the introduction in 2013 of the FFICM exam for trainees in intensive care, this book provides candidates with practice materials for the MCQ section. Written by a team of specialists in intensive care medicine, including senior trainees who have recently passed the new exam and authors of the popular FRCAQ website, the book contains 270 multiple true-false questions that cover the breadth of the current Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine curriculum. These are presented as three 90-question practice papers, providing candidates with a faithful simulation of the style, standard and format of the questions they will encounter. With short and long explanations for each question, presented with up-to-date references for extended reading, this book is both an ideal tool for in-depth exam preparation, and an excellent resource for practising consultants in intensive care medicine. It is also suitable for candidates taking the EDIC and other intensive care exams worldwide.
Overall, this is a well referenced, organized, and welcome update of a book that was last published 13 years ago.
