Description

Effectively diagnose the complete range of pediatric pathologies , from neonatal disorders through adolescence. Intended for a broad audience including general and pediatric pathologists, pediatricians, surgeons, oncologists, and other pediatric subspecialties, Stocker & Dehner’s Pediatric Pathology is widely recognized as the definitive go-to comprehensive clinical reference in the unique subspecialty of pediatric pathology – which, unlike other subspecialties, is defined by an age group rather than an organ system or process. The tumors that occur in infants and children are distinct from those that develop in adults, and they often exhibit exceptional clinical behavior, thus requiring different diagnostic and therapeutic protocols. Authored by a host of prominent authorities on this challenging area, the fourth edition of Stocker & Dehner’s Pediatric Pathology was designed to be a comprehensive volume on all major aspects of the pathologic anatomy of childhood disorders, providing the in-depth, richly illustrated guidance you need to confidently evaluate and dependably report your findings . Sweeping updates in this edition put all of the very latest knowledge and techniques at your fingertips.Key Features

I’m a paramedic, not an MD, so some of this material is above my pay grade. This is an excellent resource for expanding one’s knowledge of prehospital pediatric care, even though the primary focus is upon emergency room medicine. It is clearly and concisely written, and the medical science in this edition is very much up-to-date. I have found it to be very deserving of a place on my bookshelf and have no hesitation in recommending it to other practicioners of emergency medicine.

Description

Stress fractures are fatigue failures of bone caused by unusual or repeated stress on bone and are among the more common sports injuries encountered. Often going unreported or occasionally unnoticed, athletes run the risk of a more serious fracture if untreated. Stress Fractures in Athletes focuses on the presentation, evaluation and treatment of these injuries. Divided into two sections, the first part provides in-depth description of the pathophysiology, epidemiology and biomechanics of stress fractures, as well as a discussion of classification, imaging and some general treatment concepts. The second part expands on treatment and takes each relevant anatomical region into consideration: lumbar spine, pelvis, femur, knee, tibia, upper and lower extremities, and the ribs and shoulder girdle. A chapter on insufficiency fractures, commonly associated with osteopenia and osteoporosis, is also included. As such, Stress Fractures in Athletes are a comprehensive resource for sports medicine practitioners, orthopedic surgeons, primary care physicians and physical therapists alike.

This engaging little book is highly readable and packed with up-to-date information … it covers clearly, concisely and quite comprehensively the aspects of risk factor management, causes and pathology of stroke, … and answers many questions that would benefit the patients themselves. …

I took all my A&P classes and now I’m taking a patho class. This book goes into good detail in some pathologies, and is lacking in others, but overall, I love detail so this book was pretty decent. I’m not sure why this book got such low ratings, as I think the information is really good, and this is coming from someone who owns 4 other massive pathology books. Pair this book with google/research on your own when things are unclear and you’ll be fine!

Like all revision books, it misses parts out and is too skimpy on others, but it is well written and set out. The clear black and white text is also easier on me, since I have dyslexia
Terrible layout for the kindle version. The questions are simply stuck together on each other as a plain text. It makes difficult to reading and search for a question. I repented to having bought the kindle version instead of the paper version.

Like the 1st Edition, the 2nd Edition of “Successful Private Practice in Neuropsychology: A Scientist-Practitioner Model” by Mary Pepping focuses upon neuropsychology in the private practice setting. However, its expanded focus on institutional work and neuro-rehabilitation domains makes it worthwhile reading for neuropsychologists who practice in a number of different work settings. Graduate students, early-career professionals, and clinician-scientists who have worked as neuropsychologists for many, many years will find useful information in this text which will help them to maintain a high-level of assessment and treatment skills. With some of Dr. Pepping’s valuable insights arising from her years of experience working in private practice and institutional settings, the reader can work toward becoming “a good enough” neuropsychologist and find that a sufficiently meaningful, satisfying, and renumerative goal. Indeed, like no other text which I have read, this book can assist in helping one in their efforts to achieve a healthy balance between one’s career and other important aspects of their life.” –Robert L. Ischemic stroke is extensively covered, with inclusion of overviews that dynamically describe all relevant diagnostic and therapeutic processes in a time sequence mirroring real practice. The individual components of management and key issues are fully discussed with the aid of complementary illustrations that facilitate understanding of practical aspects and enable the reader to retrieve fundamental information quickly. In addition, the book considers the various causes of stroke and provides detailed guidance on means of secondary prevention. The recent demonstration of the substantial benefit of intra-arterial thrombectomy using stentrievers in patients with acute ischemic stroke represents a great moment in the history of stroke management. As we embark on a new era, there is an urgent need to review and evaluate current modalities for stroke diagnosis and treatment. In tackling this task, this book will be invaluable for physicians, angiographic interventionists, surgeons, and students seeking to acquire up-to-date knowledge on stroke.

Drug design is a complex, challenging and innovative research area. Structure-based molecular design has transformed the drug discovery approach in modern medicine. Traditionally, focus has been placed on computational, structural or synthetic methods only in isolation. This one-of-akind guide integrates all three skill sets for a complete picture of contemporary structure-based design.
