I am an internal medicine resident applying for heme/onc fellowship soon. This is the best in-pocket heme/onc book I have ever come across. Have shown it to a few heme/onc attendings and they also seemed to like it. Must have for those interested in heme/onc no matter what stage of training.

The perfect companion for medical students, junior doctors, primary care practitioners and anyone seeking to improve their working knowledge of psychiatric disorders. Chapters on first principles provide invaluble background on patient assessment and management options. Clinical chapters including scenarios help you identify key disorders and give practical advice on situations you will encounter in practice. chapter on mental health services and legislation covers important aspects associated with this specialty.

Reviews

Well written. Reasonably detailed without being overwhelming. Some chapters like cardiac amyloidosis, adult congenital heart disease (for example) were too superficial for a cardiology fellow, but are probably adequate for internal medicine. Good as a review book and also if you want to look up stuff quickly. It’s one step above a manual in that the explanations are quite detailed.

Description

Neurorehabilitation is an expanding field with an increasing clinical impact because of an ageing population. During the last 20 years neurorehabilitation has developed from a discipline with little scientific background, separated from other medical centers, to a medical entity largely based on the principles of ‘evidenced based medicine’ with strong ties to basic research and clinical neurology. Today neurorehabilitation is still a ‘work in progress’ and treatment standards are not yet established for all aspects of neurorehabilitation. There are very few books that address contemporary neurorehabilitation from this perspective.

Reviews

The completeness and insight of the chapters show that the authors really did their homework, and the level of detail, put in a very short piece guarantees the most useful, concrete and no-nonsense information. — Max Brzezicki, Oxford Neurological Society
