“This comprehensive book on pediatric obesity includes novel topics such as the effect of maternal obesity on children (before and after birth) and the relationship between sleep (short sleep duration and sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea) and obesity. … The book is designed for practicing endocrinologists, general pediatricians, bariatric medicine physicians, and nutritionists who manage or would like to manage pediatric obesity. It also could be of some interest to bariatric medicine providers involved in teaching.” (Silvana Pannain, Doody’s Book Reviews, December, 2010)

Description

Heart failure is an important and ever expanding sub-speciality of cardiology. Many health care professional bodies are now developing specialist expertise in heart failure. This is true for cardiologists in training, consultant cardiologists, care of the elderly and general physicians, cardiothoracic surgeons, primary care doctors, pharmacists and specialist nurses.

Reviews

This is a great little book for a whistle stop explanation of various different topics involved in medical science. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone revising for exams. However, if you need a quick introductory explanation to a topic that will give you a general idea of the topic before doing inept reading it’s not a bad option.

Reviews

These cards are presented well, organized nicely, and color coded. These are great for a quick reference but they lack the detail needed for my pathopharm class. If I want to know very basic information they’re fine but I almost always have to do more research. Another downfall is that they group several drugs from the same class on to a single card….there is no differentiation between these drugs, their adverse affects, nursing considerations, etc.

I think this is more useful for psychiatry as…well psychiatry can appear a bit wishy washy at times to be honest. The clear definitions and diagnosis criteria really helps clarify things.

Reviews

This book is a basic nursing school textbook. Lots of helpful illustrations, nursing interventions, and other tables and charts. I wish this book had a glossary for quick reference to terms. The section on respiratory interventions, mechanical ventilation, airway management is hard to follow and many of the explanations seem identical to other terms and ventilation modes.
