This is a very thorough book, and has a lot of interesting material in it. Our clerkship director made this book mandatory for the clerkship and he expected us to get through it in our 12 weeks on Surgery, but he has to be insane. I tried reading this book before I discovered Pestana…it is so dense and so full of completely low yield unimportant details for the THIRD YEAR MEDICAL STUDENT. I am only basing this review on what I think this book has to offer for the third years out there. This is the only reason I am giving this book 4 stars. It is a good book, but please do yourself a favor and just get Pestana if you are a medical student. I do not want to go into surgery, so this might also be influencing my review, so please be aware. Of the first 4 chapters that I did manage to read during my SICU rotation, I did learn some important details, but in that time I could have learned so much more clinically important material by reading Pestana…
