Certification from the ABPS is the gold standard – a significant milestone requiring intensive study, passing the written exam, and the highly challenging two-day oral board component. I got the EMT version in EMT class and found it really helpful. However this one is not the same. It is really not helpful. I mean I passed my paramedic NREMT exam on the first try, but this book is not good enough alone for that. this is too easy. If you are just starting medic this book may be challenging, but even after first year this book will be pretty useless. Look for the purple paramedic book. I also bought that on amazon, and I swear every student that used that purple study book passed on the first attempt.

It was definitely a useful resource. My instructor has never mentioned using the book for anything yet and we’re halfway into the semester. But after doing my first concept map and having literally no clue as to what I was doing or how to format it (it’s one of those “fend for yourself” type situations at my school this semester) I was looking for sources of information online. Then I remembered I purchased this book, so I decided to look through it to see if I could find anything helpful. There are not enough examples for all the different scenarios that you could possibly experience— just a few— so you’ll have to really think about how you can utilize the information available and correlate it with your specific case study (ie: Pt on anticoagulation therapy or Pt presenting with DVT— had to really figure out which nursing diagnoses to use and which implementations and evaluations I could use. ). For what was available, I was able to get a better idea of how to format my concept map moving forward, but it would have been far more helpful to see more examples of these (there are only a few in the book). There is an online code you can use as well, but you may not need that information— it’s not much more than a couple templates, which you could probably find elsewhere, or in my case, it was provided by my instructor. So, I wouldn’t NOT buy this book again, but it isn’t a necessity. You can find some of the information online and find more helpful resources if you google it. But for someone who prefers flipping through pages and highlighting vs perusing the internet, this is a good option. I would say go for it. Best of luck to you— you’ve got this! “ENDURANCE”. ❤️
